Mohammed Shami not in India’s T20 World Cup plans, reports claim not fit for format
Mohammad Shami will be featuring in the fifth Test against England on July 1 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Although the T20 World Cup 2022 is some time away, fans are already figuring out what would India’s possible bowling lineup.
After clinching victory in the two-match T20I series against Ireland, Team India selectors are now all set for the multi-format series against England.
There are high chances that pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah will lead the Indian bowling attack but not Mohammed Shami.
As only a few international matches are left before the T20 World Cup 2022, the selectors will be keeping an eye on every player’s performance but several reports claimed that pacer Mohammed Shami is not on the selectors scheme of things.
Several reports claimed that the selectors are not seeing Shami for T20 World Cup as he is not fit for the format. Selectors want to invest in young bowlers and give them maximum chances before the World Cup in Australia. They might pick Bhuvneshwar Kumar as one of the senior bowlers but probably Shami could miss the Australia flight this time for the T20 World Cup, a report told ANI.
Shami will be featuring in the fifth Test against England on July 1 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. After this test, both India and England will also play three ODIs, starting July 11.
Shami might not play in the T20 World Cup in Australia, the managers should “definitely” consider Shami for next year’s ODI World Cup at home, former India pacer Ashish Nehra had earlier said during an interaction on Cricbuzz.

IND vs ENG: Jasprit Bumrah all set to lead team India in last test match, Rohit Sharma misses out
While BCCI is yet to make an official confirmation, a source close to the team has reported to ANI that fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah will lead the Indian side in the IND vs ENG 5th Test match.

While Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will definitely miss fifth and the final Test match against England, it’s pacer Jasprit Bumrah who will lead the Indian side. A source told ANI that the Control Board of Cricket in India has decided to let the fast bowler captain the team in IND vs ENG last Test match. The match will be played at Birmingham from July 1, 2022.
After playing four practices matches against Leicester Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma had tested positive for Covid-19 during a regular squad check-up. BCCI made the announcement through their official Twitter handle.
Since then the debate on who would lead team India against England is going on and seems like BCCI is confident enough to announce Jasprit Bumrah as the Indian captain for the last Test match. It will be after 35 years that an Indian fast bowler would lead men in blue in Test cricket.
It was the first World Cup winning captain of India, Kapil Dev who last led the team in Test cricket. since then it were the Indian batters who took over the captaincy responsibilities.
While the Indian cricket fans were wanting to see former skipper Virat Kohli to finish what he started, because of the whole Virat vs BCCI episode, this was a bit tough. It was Virat Kohli who led the Indian cricket team against English men at their fortress and defeated them in two out of the three match and with on declared draw, team India holds a lead in the series by 2-1. Hence, seeing Kohli defeating England at Birmingham and lifting the Pataudi trophy would have been a treat to watch for Indian fans. This would have also been the perfect good bye to Test captaincy by the Best Indian Test captain in the longest format.
But seems like BCCI was unable to persuade Kohli and now after 35 years, an Indian fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah will handle the Indian captaincy for a Test match.
Indian Squad: Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant (wk), KS Bharat, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Prasidh Krishna and Mayank Agarwal.
