India won the second Test on Monday by 106 runs, levelling the series, after dismissing England for 292 runs in their second innings on day four. England was bowled out in 69.2 overs after losing the final four wickets in the post-lunch session, allowing India to tie the five-match series 1-1.

England resumed at 194 for six. Ben Foakes (36) and Tom Hartley (36) were dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah, while Shoaib Bashir (0) was removed by Mukesh Kumar. England captain Ben Stokes (11) was run out. India claimed five wickets in the morning session, with R Ashwin (3/72) taking two and Kuldeep Yadav (1/60) and Axar Patel (1/75) taking one apiece.

After taking three wickets, R Ashwin was one wicket away from reaching 500 Test wickets. While, England’s most successful batsman, Zak Crawley, made 73 runs off of 132 balls.

Earlier, India took five significant wickets in the morning session of the fourth day, which diminished England’s chances of winning the second Test and brought the series closer to a tie. In an attempt to reel in a formidable 399, England got off to a promising start at 95 for 1, but their middle order collapsed, leaving them at 194 for 6 before lunch.

After Rehan Ahmed, the English nightwatchman, scored 23, Axar Patel gave India an early lead by removing the Englishman. Then skipper Rohit Sharma turned to R Ashwin, who not only restored his captain’s faith but also added to England’s misery by dismissing Joe Root and Ollie Pope in short succession. Axar Patel made an easy catch at backward point as Root, despite having an injury to his finger, attempted to attack after Pope had scored 23 runs and edged Ashwin to Rohit Sharma at slip.

However, In Hyderabad, India had lost the first Test by a score of 28 runs.
