IND vs BAN: India wins Test series by 2-0, Ashwin-Shreyas Iyer heroics helps India defeat Bangladesh by 3 wickets

India has done the unthinkable. The team that was down by 7 for just the score of 74 has won the second Test match against Bangladesh by 3 wickets. Team India has also defeated the host at Mirpur by 2-0 and won the 2-match Test series.

Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin have helped India win the second match in a tough situation. Maximum batters had returned back to the pavilion even before putting three figures on the scoreboard. Bangladesh through was successfully pinning down India and were having Indian batters under pressure on a short chase of 144 but the partnership between R Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer has brought the difference.

Tiger of the match award was given to Mehndi Hasan for taking five wickets in the second Test. Most valuable man of the match was given to Litton Das for his bravery in the Test series. R Ashwin won the player of the match for taking 4 wickets and 44 not out in the last game. Player of the series award was given to veteran Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara for scoring maximum runs in the IND vs BAN Test series.

Indian Team dealt with pressure

After Virat Kohli’s big wicket, the second biggest blow to Indian team was Rishabh Pant’s wicket. The Indian wicket-keeper batsman came to an end with an LBW by Mehdi Hasan Miraj. Pant returned to the pavilion after scoring nine runs off 13 balls. Mehendi’s ball hit straight on his pad and Shreyas Iyer comes to the crease after Pant while Axar Patel was still on the other end. Team India had then scored 74 runs for six wickets in 29 overs. Indian then needed just 71 more runs to win.

Mehdi Hasan Miraj was on a roll as he gave seventh blow to India. He clean bowled Axar Patel, and the Indian all-rounder returned to the pavilion after scoring 34 off 69 balls. Team India is in trouble after his dismissal. As they still need to score 71 more runs to win the test. Men in blue managed to score just 74 runs in the second innings for the loss of 7 wickets in 30 overs.

But India has won the series by 2-0 and have defeated the host at their home ground of Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka.

IND vs BAN 2nd Test Summary

The second match of the two-Test series between India and Bangladesh was being played in Dhaka. Today was the fourth day of the match and India seemed to have entered a tough situation after they lost seven wickets for just 85 runs. Bangladesh had scored 227 runs in the first innings, in response India scored 314 runs.

In second innings, Bangladesh team managed to score 231 runs and set a target of 145 runs for India to chase. In response, India had scored 45 runs for four wickets by the end of the third day. And on the occasion of Christmas India has won the Test series and Day 4 and will be returning back to India on a happy note. With this India has also avenged the ODI defeat.
