IPL 2018 Trophy

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]According to the new change, alike European football leagues, IPL teams will also be afforded a mid-tournament transfer window.

Ahead of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) is likely to bring in a change in the match timings. As per the latest proposal, the second match of the day – which used to start from 8pm – is likely to start from 7 pm from the upcoming season.

The league’s chairman Rajeev Shukla floated the idea to change the match timing in a recently held IPL general council meeting. While all the franchises have welcomed the plan of an early start, the proposal is now subjected to approval from the league’s official television broadcasters – Star India.

Suggesting the change in the timing the BCCI cited problems faced by the fans at the stadium and the parents of the kids at home – since usually the matches used to continue well past midnight.

Speaking to the Indian Express, Shukla said, “It was just a thought (starting game at 7pm) and everyone welcomed it but first we need to speak to broadcaster and take their nod. We will work on modalities then. There have been many centers where traveling is major concern. All the issues were discussed and we all thought to start the game but early.”

Another major change approved at the general council meeting is related to the format of the tournament. According to the new change, alike European football leagues, IPL teams will also be afforded a mid-tournament transfer window – which means a player who has played at least two games out of seven, will be allowed to get transferred to a different franchise, in the middle of the tournament.

Stating that all the franchise have welcomed the mid-season transfer of players, the IPL chairman said, “Every IPL owner agreed to have this in forthcoming season. It will give chance to those players who are good but are not getting opportunities to be part of playing XI of any IPL side. We are having an IPL governing council meeting soon to finalize all these points.”

However, with if the timing of the second match of the day is preponed by an hour, the first match which used to start 4pm is likely to start from 3pm from 2018. However, Shukla pointed out that the decision on the change of timing will be finalized on the next general council meeting – which is scheduled to be held in Delhi on December 5.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
