Pakistan vs New Zealand

Revenge will be in the back of the mind of every Pakistan cricketer when they face New Zealand in their second match of the ICC T20 World Cup in Sharjah on Tuesday. However, the match will see some extra dose of rivalry in the wake of New Zealand’s last-minute withdrawal from the 1st game of the 5-match ODI series citing security reasons in Rawalpindi On September 17.

The Kiwi’s decision led the England to pull out of a scheduled series in Pakistan that hampered Pakistan’s World Cup preparations.

Now, Pakistan will try hard to channelise their anger into some proper cricketing action by giving a tough fight against New Zealand.

However, 3 teams were on Pakistan’s target in this tournament – India, New Zealand and England. As Pakistan has already dealt with their arch-rival India by securing 10-wicket victory on Sunday, the team will now face New Zealand at Sharjah.

For a lot of Pakistani fans, the team have already won the World Cup by ending its 29-year-old World Cup jinx against India but the Pakistan has already shown the hunger for winning the T20 World Cup trophy as Babar had discussed with his players in the dressing room after the Sunday’s victory.

Babar had also said Pakistan have not just come to Dubai to just win against India but to win the World Cup. Always remember that excess celebrations would only disturb focus, he said in his speech after the victory against India.

In 24 T20ls between Pakistan and New Zealand, the Kiwis have won 10 while Pakistan won only 14.

New Zealand will be playing their first math of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 on Tuesday and could disturb Pakistan’s momentum. The Kiwi’s didn’t make a great start to their campaign, however, having lost both their warm-up matches.

Tim Southee proved expensive in both the games while Lockie Ferguson has been bowling really well. As for the spin department is concern, Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi are likely to make the cut.

New Zealand have a strong top-order Martin Guptill, Devon Conway, Kane Williamson and Glenn Phillips. Guptill looked in great form in both the games and that is a positive sign for New Zealand. Jimmy Neesham played a handy 18-ball 31-run knock against Australia in the warm-up match.

Kohli reacts to BCCI’s family restriction rule, says families have a big role to play when players go through rough patches

“People who don’t see the complete picture often suggest keeping families away, without grasping the benefits they bring,” he stated.

Veteran Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has spoken out regarding the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) recent policy that limits the presence of players’ families during tours. At 36 years old, Kohli played a crucial role in leading India to their third Champions Trophy victory, adding to the titles from 2002 and 2013. He emphasized the significant support families provide during challenging times on the road.

In response to India’s 1-3 defeat in the Test series against Australia earlier this year, the BCCI implemented a regulation outlining that players’ spouses and children may join them on tours exceeding 45 days only after the initial two weeks, with a cap of 14 days for their stay.

“It’s really hard for others to fathom how stabilizing it is to reunite with your family amidst the pressures of competition,” Kohli remarked at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit prior to the IPL 2025, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

Kohli articulated his disappointment at the lack of understanding surrounding the emotional support that family offers. “People who don’t see the complete picture often suggest keeping families away, without grasping the benefits they bring,” he stated.

The prolific batsman, who recently became the fastest to reach 14,000 runs in ODIs—surpassing Sachin Tendulkar—believes that having family nearby equips players to approach their game with a clearer sense of accountability.

“If you ask any player whether they want their family around, the answer is always yes. I prefer not to retreat to my room and feel isolated. I want to embrace normalcy, knowing I can return to life after fulfilling my responsibilities on the field,” Kohli explained.

During the Champions Trophy, Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma passionately supported him from the stands, and following India’s victorious final against New Zealand in Dubai, their heartfelt celebration together quickly gained popularity on social media. Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh and their daughter Samaira were also seen celebrating during the tournament, while Kohli delivered remarkable performances, including a century against Pakistan and an 84-run innings against Australia in the semi-final.
