After the T20 series victory against South Africa by 2-1, Team India seemed all set to take down the same team in the One Day Internationals. But the absence of star and senior players made their run short in the first ODI.
India lost to South Africa in the first ODI match played in the city of Nawabs, Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan and opener Shubhman Gill could not convert their good start into something bog and now the team has also got anther dent.
BCCI, the Board of Cricket Control in India has announced that Washington Sundar will be replacing Deepak Chahar. The CSK player sustained a back injury and has been sent to to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and will be monitored by the Medical Team there.
Chahar played was the most useful player for regular captain Rohit Sharma in the T20 series. But the pacer could not play the last T20 match and first ODI match against South Africa due to stiffness in his back.
This has also come like a huge blow for the Indian team management as he was been considered as the replacement for Jasprit Bumrah. Well, Indian fans can hope for his quick recovery as he could then join Indian team in Australia, where the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will be played.
Shreyas Iyer has been named the vice captain of India, while Shikhar Dhawan will be leading Men In Blue for the ODI series against Proteas as the senior team has left for Australia. After defeating Australia and South Africa in T20 series but 2-1, senior Team India along with skipper Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli has left for Australia where the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will be played.
