BGMI 1.8 update features revealed: From Spiderman map to swimming after being knocked out, all you need to know about the latest version and expected release date

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), the Indian version of the South Korean game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is one of the most popular games in India. The Krafton-owned game brings out new and interesting updates after every 8 weeks to keep the gamers hooked to its app. Players can expect lots of exciting updates this season.

With only a few days left for this season, BGMI is rolling out Update 1.8 which has generated a great deal of hype among players ever since the start of the beta testing program in December.

Expected release date

Krafton has not made any official announcement regarding the release of the new update. The PUBG Mobile 1.8 update is expected to be released in 1 to 2 days. Furthermore, the current Royale Pass expires on January 17, 2022, at 0 UTC, and the upgrade is usually released a few days prior. The players can expect the game to be released by 15th January 2022.

The game’s updates typically begin at 0 UTC, or 5:30 a.m. IST, and are completely accessible by 1-2 UTC or 6:30-7:30 am IST.

New BGMI Map

Update 1.8 will have a Spiderman theme that will replace the current Mirror World mode. The theme is associated with the movie Spiderman- No Way Home. Spider-Man will battle supernatural monsters in this mode. You will receive exclusive stuffs from Spider-Man if you assist him. On the map, you’ll also be able to discover a Spider-Man box that will contain beneficial equipment for the players.

  1. Swimming after being knocked out

After this update, water will no longer be an issue because the player knocked out in the water will be able to swim. Currently, if you are knocked out in the water, you die but after following the 1.8 Update, you will be able to swim and your partner will also help you while swimming.

  1. Built-in scope

Almost every weapon in the new update will be equipped with a built-in site called AC Core which is somewhat similar to Red Dot.

  1. New sets of voice chat

New voice packs from well-known creators will be included in the game. Snax, Kaztro, and Jonathan are among them. As a result, players will be able to interact with their teammates using their preferred voices. Both paid and unpaid sets of voice notes will be available to the players.

  1. New map for team deathmatch

Players will be greeted with a new map for team deathmatch. The map’s name is Santorini, and it’s an 8v8 map. It’s made for two eight-player teams. On the map, new types of buildings and shelters based on the Santorini location will be launched, providing players with a variety of places to hide and attack.

Bharti Airtel has rolled out its new IPTV service in over 2000 cities across India, aiming to provide users with a unified entertainment experience through the large screen. The service, which includes bundled Wi-Fi, OTT apps, and live TV channels, is available for both new and existing Airtel broadband users, starting at Rs. 699 per month.

How to access Airtel IPTV

New subscribers can get started by purchasing a new Airtel Wi-Fi plan through the company’s website or by visiting a nearby store.
Existing Airtel Wi-Fi users have the option to upgrade to IPTV services via the Airtel Thanks app or by heading to any Airtel store.

Features and plan details

Airtel’s IPTV offering includes access to more than 600 live TV channels and a wide catalog of on-demand content from 29 leading OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, SonyLIV, and ZEE5.

The company is also offering up to 30 days of free service as part of an introductory promotion, claimable through the Airtel Thanks app.

Availability and rollout plans

The Vivo T4 5G is rumored to feature a 6.67-inch full-HD+ AMOLED quad-curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate, promising a premium viewing experience. It may run on Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15 and could be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset.

In terms of photography, the device is tipped to sport a 50MP Sony IMX882 primary camera with OIS, along with a 2MP secondary sensor. The front camera is expected to be a 32MP shooter, aimed at enhancing selfie performance.

Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO has officially confirmed the launch date of its next smartphone for the Indian market, the iQOO Z10, which is set to make its debut on April 11, 2025. The highlight of this upcoming device is its massive 7300mAh battery, which the company claims is the largest ever in an Indian smartphone.

The brand took to social media to announce the Z10, highlighting it as a phone designed for “mega taskers,” aiming to deliver longer battery life for users with heavy usage patterns. This large battery makes it a significant upgrade over the iQOO Z9, which came with a 5,000mAh battery and 44W fast charging.

First look reveals a bold design change

Alongside the launch date announcement, iQOO also revealed the first official teaser image of the Z10.
