Meta new feature

Social media giant Meta, will launch Twitter rival threads on Thursday. This announcement follows after Twitter had restricted the post reads. Apple’s App Store Data in the US asserted that the new feature will be available for the users to download.

Similar to other social media platforms, threads will also be linked to Instagram. This might give it an edge over Twitter as it will be able to directly import the information from the photo-sharing platform. This in turn implies that the users will also have Instagram users added to the platform and that they need not to build their profile from scratch.

In a statement, Apple Store mentioned that threads are where communities come together to deliberate everything from topics one cares about to what will be trending the next day. It further added that in order to share your thoughts, opinions, and creativity with the world, the users may either develop a devoted following of their own or follow and interact with their favourite creators and those who share similar interests.

Reports claim that threads are closely associated with other Meta-owned sites, and that the platforms might receive adequate features that are very comparable to those on Musk’s Twitter. The new feature is said to have functions such as like, share, remark, repost and others with an interface that is similar to Twitter. The app aims to unite several groups around conversations about various topics and connections with preferred creators.

On the other hand, as per latest reports, users will only be able to see a limited number of Tweets owing to limitations Twitter has placed on post readings. Furthermore, Twitter has declared that the users of TweetDeck must have verified profiles to avail the service. This modification will come into effect after 30 days, according to reports. On the ground of these restrictions, users are reportedly shifting to other platforms like Mastodon which might offer an edge to threads as well.

OpenAI announced that its subscription service, ChatGPT Go, will be available free of cost for one year to users in India who register between November 4 and the end of a limited-time promotional period. The initiative coincides with the company’s first-ever DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru.

Designed to enhance access to advanced AI features

Launched in India in August, ChatGPT Go was created in response to user feedback seeking affordable access to advanced AI tools. The plan offers higher message limits, image generation capabilities, and file uploads — features previously limited to premium tiers.

According to OpenAI, the number of paid ChatGPT subscribers in India doubled within the first month of ChatGPT Go’s introduction. Following this strong adoption, the company has expanded the service to nearly 90 countries.

Boost to India’s growing AI ecosystem

OpenAI highlighted that millions of Indians, including developers, students, and professionals, use ChatGPT daily. The company described the offer as part of its “India-first” commitment, supporting the IndiaAI Mission and reinforcing the country’s growing momentum in artificial intelligence as it prepares to host the AI Impact Summit next year.

Existing ChatGPT Go subscribers in India will also benefit from the free 12-month promotion.

Nick Turley, OpenAI’s Vice President and Head of ChatGPT, said the initiative is inspired by the creativity and enthusiasm of Indian users. “Ahead of our first DevDay Exchange event in India, we’re making ChatGPT Go freely available for a year to help more people across India easily access and benefit from advanced AI,” he added.
