Twitter Blue launches in India, users to pay Rs 900 for mobile, Rs 650 for web per month; know benefits and subscription details

Twitter has finally launched a premium subscription service, Twitter Blue, for its Indian users. In addition to the blue tick (verified badge) next to the user’s name, the paid subscription grants users early access to newly released features by the microblogging platform.

Twitter Blue was introduced last year, however, it got revamped after the microblogging platform was taken over by Elon Musk last year. Users can subscribe to Twitter Blue via the Twitter app for Android, iOS as well as the web version.

Twitter Blue Price in India

Twitter Blue’s subscription price varies across platforms. iOS and Android users in India will have to pay Rs 900 per month, while web users will have to pay Rs 650 per month to get the Twitter Blue subscription.

Users can also subscribe to the premium service for an annual fee of Rs 6,800, which will cost approximately Rs 566.6 per month. However, this plan is only available on the web.

The company on Wednesday said the feature was being rolled out in 15 countries, including India, Brazil and Indonesia.

Benefits of Twitter Blue subscription

  • Twitter Blue subscribers will get early access to features like edit tweets, bookmark folders, custom app icons, and NFT profile pictures.
  • Twitter Blue users can edit tweets up to five times within 30 minutes of publishing.
  • Those who have subscribed to Twitter Blue can choose different colour themes for their app, prioritize their reply on tweets, and undo a tweet before it becomes visible to other users.
  • Twitter Blue subscribers get a longer character limit of 4,000 while the character limit for other users is 280.
  • Users can also upload longer videos of up to 60 minutes or have a size of up to 2 GB in Full-HD resolution.

Xiaomi launched its Redmi A3 smartphone in India on Wednesday at a starting price of Rs 7,299. The Redmi A3 comes in Halo design on the back, which is usually seen in more expensive Redmi smartphones. The Redmi A3 is priced at Rs 7,299 for the 3GB RAM/64 GB storage variant and Rs 9,299 for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant.

The smartphone will go on sale from Februray 23 and can be bought from Mi.com, Flipkart and other retail outlets. The Redmi A3 features a 6.7-inch HD+LCD Display with a resolution of 1650×720 pixels and support for a 90 Hz refresh rate. The budget smartphone also features a waterdrop style notch which has the front facing camera with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top.

The Redmi A3 smartphone is powered by the octa-core Media Tek Helio G36 chipset which is paired with upto 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and upto 128 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage (which is expandable upto 1TB via the dedicated micro SD card slot). The smartphone runs on the company’s proprietary MIUI 14 custom skin based on the Android 13 operating system.

The Redmi A3 smartphone has a 5000 mAh battery that can be fast charged with a 10 W charger provided inside the box. In terms of connectivity the smartphone features a side mounted finger print sensor, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a USB type C port, dual 4G SIM card slots, dual-band Wifi, Bluetooth 5.3, and GNSS.

In terms of optics, The Redmi A3 comes with dual camera setup to the back including a 8MP primary sensor and a 0.08MP secondary sensor. Instagram new feature: Social Media users can now display song lyrics in reels

The photo and video-sharing platform owned by Meta Platforms, Instagram, is getting a feature that will allow users to add lyrics to their reels. Instagram head at the Mark Zuckerberg-helmed social media giant, Adam Mosseri took to his Broadcast Channel to announce the update.

Adam Mosseri noted that a new feature is rolling out a way to add song lyrics when editing Instagram Reels. He added that they have seen people manually add lyrics to Reels, so he hopes that this makes it easier to use music to express oneself. He assured that they are working on more updates to get creative on Reels. He further mentioned that the feature is similar to one that is already available for Instagram Stories.

Here are the steps to add song lyrics to your Instagram Reels:

First, go to the Instagram app, followed by tapping the Reels icon at the bottom of the screen.

Then, click on the Music icon on the top of the screen and choose a song from the library or your own audio.

Next, tap on the Lyrics icon at the bottom and choose a font and a colour for the text.

Then, drag the text to the desired position and, using the slider, select the portion or part of the lyrics you want to display.

Finally, tap on the Done button and edit and share the Reel as usual.

Notably, music has become a key element in the growth of TikTok, with the platform now looking to expand its music industry links, through a new partnership with Billboard on a TikTok trending chart and even its own live music event.  

Instagram stated that social media users are already manually adding song lyrics to their Reels clips, so it probably makes sense for IG to make this easier. Reports stated that the new lyrics sticker has been rolled out to all Instagram users.
