Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh is still at large following his extremely dramatic escape in Punjab. However, the police’s hunt for Singh continues as the authorities crack down on his close aids or other sympathizers.

Amid this, the Punjab Police on Tuesday captured Singh’s uncle Harjeet Singh and brought him to Central Jail in Assam’s Dibrugarh. Four of Amritpal Singh’s key aides were also brought to the same jail on Sunday.

A probable ISI angle was highlighted by the Punjab Police on Monday when it used the stringent National Security Act against five men connected to extremist preacher Amritpal Singh. His uncle Harjeet Singh and his driver surrendered themselves amid a part of a statewide crackdown against his Waris Punjab De outfit.

Harjit Singh is one of the five people slapped with the NSA, which permits the preventative detention of anyone who could endanger public order or national security. The officials say Harjit Singh helped his nephew Amritpal Singh to take control over the accounts of Waris Punjab De.
