Bihar University hires its peon as assistant professor, here’s how he gets his dream job

There is a famous saying that hard work always pays off and Bihar man Kamal Kishor Mandal is living proof of it. Recently, the man who used to work in the university for 12 years as a peon, was hired in the same university as an assistant professor. His story stunned thousands of people across India.
Reports say despite being a political science graduate, Mandal’s financial condition in 2003 forced him to stop his study and landed him a job as a night guard at RD & DJ College in Munger, Bihar.
A month later, after joining his work, the 42-year-old was then sent by the college to the Ambedkar Thought and Social Work department (Post Graduate) at the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) on deputation. His position as the guard then changed to peon after five years.

How Bihar man Kamal Kishor Mandal got his dream job
Reports revealed that while working as a peon in the TMBU, Mandal used to watch students with books and always wanted to study further. But, his financial conditions did not allow him to pursue it.
In 2009, Mandal sought permission from the concerned department of the University to complete his Master’s Degree in Ambedkar Thought and Social Work. After being permitted, he completed his degree.
Eager to study more, he again asked the university to allow him to complete his PhD in 2013. The Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University granted him permission. During that time, he enrolled in the university’s PhD program and completed his thesis in 2017.
Mandal’s luck shined in 2020 when the Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC) released a job opportunity for the post of assistant professor at TMBU. At the same education institute, he was working as a peon.
After cracking the exams for the vacancy in May 2022, the university hired him as an Assistant Professor in the same department where the man used to work as a peon.
