India became Hindu Rashtra after partition, says BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya | WATCH

BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, Tuesday, courted controversy with his remarks saying that India became a “Hindu Rashtra” or Hindu nation after the country’s partition which he said was done along religious lines and led to the formation of Pakistan in 1947.
Speaking to reporters in Indore, Vijayvargiya said that India was partitioned on religious lines after the independence, Pakistan was formed and what remained of the country is a ‘Hindu Rashtra.’
The senior BJP leader claimed that he has a Muslim friend from Bhopal who visits a Shiva temple everyday and also recites Hanuman Chalisa. He claimed that his Muslim friend was inspired to worship Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva after knowing about the history of his family as his ancestors were Rajputs of Rajasthan.
He said some of his friend’s relatives are still Hindu Rajputs living in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. However, Vijayvargiya did not reveal his mystery Muslim friend’s identity.
The saffron party leader claimed like his Muslim friend, there are many such people who feel their ancestors once recited the Hanuman Chalisa and he was mulling to form a “Hanuman Chalisa Club” to wean youths away from drugs.
Vijayvargiya also commented on the recent surge in separatist activities in Punjab, saying that Centre and the state government were working together to deal with the problem and their efforts will yield good results.
The senior politician who is also a former state cabinet minister is not new to controversies. In June last year, Kailash Vijayvargiya was criticized for his remarks on Agniveers.
The BJP leader reportedly said that he would give priority to Agnipath recruits for security jobs at his BJP office but retracted his comments later by issuing a clarification later, saying he only meant that the excellence of Agniveers will be utilised in whichever field they choose after completing service in the defence forces.
