Bollywood star Akshay Kumar often brings the stories of real life heroes to the big screen instilling the spirit of patriotism along with entertainment. On November 16, on the occasion of Rescue Day, Akshay made the official announcement of his upcoming film. In the film, Khiladi Kumar is going to play the role of mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill, who saved the lives of the miners trapped in the coal mine in the year 1989. Jaswant Singh Gill carried out India’s first coal mining rescue on November 16.

Khiladi Kumar expressed his happiness on playing the role of Jaswant Singh on the big screen. Responding to the post of Coal Minister, Akshay wrote, he was fortunate that he was going to play the role of Jaswant Singh Gill. This is a story like no other.

Announcing the film on his social media handle, Jackky Bhagnani re-tweeted saying, on this day we all remember late Sardar Jaswant Singh Gill, who saved the lives of people trapped in Raniganj coal mines in difficult circumstances. Our next film is based on his heroism. It is indeed a matter of honor and privilege for us, he added.

Film will be released in 2023

Akshay’s film will be directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, who has previously worked with Akshay Kumar in the National Award film Rustom. This real life rescue drama of Akshay Kumar is going to release in 2023.

Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, who appeared in several Hindi films and was particularly remembered for his role in the 2007 comedy Welcome, has died at the age of 56.

Khan was known for playing supporting characters across Hindi cinema and had worked in films spanning several decades. His role as Balu in Welcome remains among his best-known performances.

Mushtaq Khan’s film career

Mushtaq Khan appeared in a wide range of films during his career. His filmography included Aashiqui, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Gopi Kishan, Krantiveer, Raja, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Jodi No. 1 and Hera Pheri.

He also featured in more recent films including Stree 2, Gadar 2, Baby John, Dhoom Dhaam and Jaat. His filmography lists acting work continuing into 2026.

In Welcome, Khan played Balu, a supporting character in the comedy starring Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and other prominent actors.

Mushtaq Khan dies at 56

The actor’s death was reported on September 24, 2026. Reports said Khan had been undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with liver cancer and had been hospitalised for around 15 days. Further details surrounding his death were awaited in the initial reports.

The newborn is the couple’s second daughter. Deepika and Ranveer became parents for the first time in September 2024, when they welcomed their daughter Dua.
