Between the south-eastern coast of Tamil Nadu, India, and the north-western coast of Sri Lanka, there is a chain of naturally occurring limestone shoals known as Ram Setu, also known as Adam’s Bridge or Rama’s Bridge.
The bridge was constructed by Lord Rama’s army, who also assisted in freeing his wife Sita from the clutches of Sri Lankan king Ravana, according to the Hindu mythological epic Ramayana.
Ram Setu, according to Akshay Kumar, is a movie that is deeply steeped in Indian history, and he is happy that it will now have a wider audience thanks to its availability on Prime Video.
The 55-year-old actor said that Ram Setu is a well-researched film that not only brings out the authenticity in storytelling, but also gives the viewers an immersive experience through its cutting-edge VFX technology that further enhances the narrative. Akshay Kumar also said that the film received positive response during its theatrical release, and that he was excited to take it to his fans far and wide.
Ram Setu, which reportedly cost Rs 150 crore to produce, received poor reviews when it debuted and failed miserably at the box office, taking in only Rs 93 crore while it was playing in theatres.
Ram Setu, produced by Amazon Studios, Kumar’s Cape of Good Films, Lyca Productions, and Abundantia Entertainment, was the company’s first theatrical co-production in India. Theater distribution was handled by Zee Studios.
On December 23, Ram Setu will be available on Prime Video in India and other countries.
