Is it a bank holiday on Pongal?
Different states have their own rules regarding bank holidays.

The Reserve Bank of India releases a list of bank holidays depending on the festivals being celebrated in states. Different states have their own rules regarding bank holidays.
Since Pongal is not a national festival, the banks will not be closed in all the states. The festival is mainly celebrated by Tamil people in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Puducherry. It is also known as a harvest festival.
Banks in Tamil Nadu will be closed on January 16 on the occasion of Uzhavar Thirunal. However, banks will remain open for all days in all states except Sunday.
In January, festivals like Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, Makar Sankranti, and others are celebrated. According to the bank holiday list released by the RBI, banks will remain shut for 14 days across various states in India in January.

The RBI categorizes holidays into three categories-Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday, Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

Watch: Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar reaches Karnal airport on bike, video went viral
On September 1, in an effort to check pollution, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar declared that Tuesdays from now will be designated as car-free days in Karnal.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday took a bike rike to Karnal airport in an attempt to support the car free day initiative in the state. Earlier, the chief minister announced that every Tuesday would be a car-free day in Karnal, where all government officials would travel by bicycle only.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, CM Manohar Lal Khattar wrote that be it Car Free Day or the resolve to make Drug-free Haryana, it cannot be accomplished without public cooperation. He expressed that he also made a small cooperation to reduce car traffic today by travelling to Karnal Airport by bike on Car Free Day. He added that he hopes the aware people of the state will take this message forward and inspire people to give up their cars just for a day.

Meanwhile on Monday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar flagged off a cyclothon in Haryana’s Yamunanagar to promote the initiative of drug-free Haryana. The campaign titled Cyclothon for a Drug-Free Haryana witnessed the first cyclothon on September 1 and Monday, September 25.
Speaking about drug-free Haryana, the Chief Minister noted that their goal will not be achieved by mere march against drug addiction. He added that in order to eradicate it from its roots they will have to create public awareness continuously. He underlined that to eliminate drug addiction, they have to break the drug supply chain for which the government is taking action against the drug smugglers with great responsibility.
The Chief Minister further remarked that during Cyclothon Yatra Closing Ceremony in Karnal, all the people present there took many resolutions to eradicate drug addiction from the society.

Swara Bhasker, Fahad Ahmad blessed with a baby girl
Samajwadi Party activist Fahad Ahmed and Bollywood actor Swara Bhasker got married in January this year. The couple legally registered her marriage under the special marriage act on January 6.

Bollywood Actor Swara Bhasker and her husband Fahad Ahmed welcomed their first child, a baby girl. Swara gave birth to her little angel on September 23. Swara shared the name of the baby girl Raabiyaa. According to reports the Swara has kept the name of her daughter after the Sufi mystic Rabia Basri. She also shared a number of pics of the newborn.
One photograph shoes the proud parents with the little angel. The second picture shows Sara sweetly looking at her baby girl. Large number of fans, family and friends started wishing them on social media. Neena Gupta congratulated the couple. Swara had announced her pregnancy in the month of June.
She shared a number of photos flaunting her baby bump. Swara shared adorable photos with her husband. She wrote sometimes all your prayers are answered together. She said she was feeling excited, blessed and grateful as she stepped into a whole new world.

Humans of Bombay’s founder Karishma Mehta’s old video has been going viral on social media platforms. The incident started with Mehta’s company, Humans of Bombay, filed a lawsuit against Humans Of India over copyright infringement.
This case got the attention of the Humans of New York’s founder Brandon Stanton. Speaking on the issue, Stanton took to X, formerly Twitter and criticised Mehta’s company HOB’s step of sending a legal notice for copyright infringement.
HONY’s founder said he stayed quiet on the appropriation of my work because according to him HOB shares important stories, even if they’ve monetised far past anything I’d feel comfortable doing on HONY, Brandon Stanton added. But you can’t be suing people for what I’ve forgiven you for, the HONY founder said.
In this cold war, an old video of Karishma Mehta is going viral. In the video, she talks about the inception of HOB and how the idea came to her spontaneously. She expressed that it felt like the perfect fit for her and she decided to start it without any hesitation. Reflecting on the experience, she shares that starting something new during that time was an amazing experience.

Karishma is getting trolled on social media platforms after Humans of New York founder Brandon Stanton’s reaction and accusations of copying his idea.
Karishma Mehta founded Humans of Bombay, a storytelling platform in India similar to Humans of New York, as a Facebook page in 2014. It has gained a large following since then.
A lawsuit was recently filed by the platform against People of India for copyright infringement in the Delhi High Court, which Brandon was not happy about.
