Cannes Film Festival 2022 witnessed several Indian celebrities on the red carpet. The diva Deepika Padukone remained in the limelight for her impeccable looks at the prestigious function.

However, Deepika’s recent retro look by the popular designer Sabyasachi Mukherji failed to impress her fans. The actor donned a black and golden sequinned retro saree. She completed her look with a similar hairstyle, as she had in her Bollywood debut film, Om Shanti Om. Her iconic character Shanti Priya still remains one of her notable works. She donned a bejewelled headband from Sabyasachi Jewellery’s Royal Bengal collection.

Deepika’s saree was inspired by the big cat after which the collection is named.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee took to his Instagram handle and shared the thought behind the saree. He informed that the saree was a part of his Akash Tara collection that celebrated the heritage of Indian crafts and techniques through a hint of modernity.

The designer also shared that the blocks in the saree have been printed and hand-embroidered by some of India’s finest craftspersons at the Sabyasachi atelier.

Though whatever thoughts have been put behind the saree, Deepika Padukone’s fans are surely unhappy with her look, especially her makeup and jewellery. Commenting on her heavy earrings, a user, on social media, wrote that in jhumkon ke neeche milegi Shanti Priya ki laash (in reference to the climax scene of Om Shanti Om).
