PETA compares consuming cow milk to neighbour’s breast milk, draws criticism

The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) on Tuesday put out a tweet which has kicked up a storm over the internet and has drawn criticism from users.

The PETA tweet said drinking a cow’s milk is as weird as drinking your neighbour’s breast milk. Yes, it does cross some species and neighbourly bounds and good sense.

PETA is a non-profit founded in 1980 and working for the welfare and protection of animals. Controversy is not far from PETA because of its posts and campaigns to push for changing the status quo via aggerssive activism.

This time, PETA’s tweet has tried sending a message to encourage people to avoid drinking cow milk by equating it it with drinking the neighbour’s breast milk. Cattle have been reared for their milk and by equating it with a neighbour’s breast milk, PETA is saying it’s as good as stealing your neighbour’s natural sustenance for their offspring. Calves are not allowed to feed from a milching cow, the milk is always exclusively sold.

This tweet has now allowed users to target the animal rights organisation. There are mixed reactions over the internet with some opposing the idea while some protesting against it.

A user commented that breast milk is healthier for humans, PETA replied that it is because it suits human nutritional needs like cow milk is meant for calves.

A user asked PETA that is it suggesting breast milk in cereal instead of cow milk, to which PETA replied with an image containing a number of alternate options to cow milk which include oatmilk, soyamilk, almond milk, vegan milk and more.

Another person reacted by sharing a visual of a chicken on a tandoor grill, PETA immediately responded with a picture of a character.

The most hilarious reaction was when a user posted a photograph in which two young boys can be seen drinking milk directly from a cow’s udders.

The animal rights organisation in one of its articles mentions cow milk to be cruel and claims it is unhealthy for humans to consume.

PETA said cows also have emotions and they enjoy sharing a bond with their children but in most of the dairies, the cow’s basic desire to nurture their offspring is killed and is often seen as a milk producing machine.

It claims people who drink cow milk every day have high chances of contracting severe heart disease, cancer and many life-threatening health problems.

MP: Kuno cheetah, spotted on Sheopur road in viral video, rescued by officials

The two male cheetahs, Agni and Vayu, were translocated from South Africa in February 2023 and subsequently released into the Palpur forest within Kuno National Park (KNP) on December 4.

A cheetah, released into the wild on December 4, was recently seen wandering the streets of Sheopur town in Madhya Pradesh, on the evenings of Tuesday and Wednesday, but has since returned to the forest, as per various reports.

The two male cheetahs, Agni and Vayu, were translocated from South Africa in February 2023 and subsequently released into the Palpur forest within Kuno National Park (KNP) on December 4.

As per the reports, Agni was spotted near the stadium in Sheopur, causing alarm among residents. Yusuf Khan, a resident of Crusher Basti near Veer Savarkar Stadium, noted, “People panicked and retreated to their homes” upon seeing the cheetah. On Wednesday, the cheetah was captured in another widely circulated video, raising concerns about its behavior in urban areas.

Wildlife activist Ajay Dubey expressed concerns regarding the cheetah’s adaptation, suggesting that after over a year in captivity, it may have lost its wild instincts or could be struggling with food scarcity. He mentioned reports of the cheetah killing a stray dog and questioned if there was a lack of prey available in the region.

In response, a senior official from the National Tiger Conservation Authority assured that there is no cause for alarm. “It is important to understand that these two cheetahs are free-ranging now. These animals do not understand or see human boundaries. One of them, Agni, was seen wandering around 3 am on the 24th, a time when few people are on the roads. To my knowledge, a police van recorded a video of the incident,” the official elaborated.

The official confirmed that Agni has returned to the forest and that Vayu remains near its enclosure, with both animals being monitored closely due to their radio collars and GPS tags.

Additionally, the chief wildlife warden of Madhya Pradesh and police officials have been directed to prevent the sharing of such videos on social media due to the potential for public panic. “Cheetahs are harmless and generally do not pose a threat to humans, so there is no reason for concern,” the official reiterated.

According to the Cheetah Conservation Fund, cheetahs typically do not engage in conflict with humans and possess a generally docile temperament. The two cheetahs, brothers, were part of the 12 animals relocated from South Africa for Project Cheetah. While Vayu remained in Kuno, Agni strayed and was eventually tranquilized in Rajasthan before being returned to a soft enclosure prior to their release on December 4.

Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan and director-producer Karan Johar are set to collaborate on a highly anticipated project. The film, titled Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, signifies Kartik’s return to the romantic comedy genre. It will be directed by Sameer Vidwans, known for his work on Satya Prem Ki Katha, and produced by Dharma Productions. The film is scheduled for a global theatrical release in 2026.

In 2021, various reports indicated a rift between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar, resulting in the actor’s departure from Dostana 2. After a three-year hiatus, the duo has reunited for a new project, a romantic comedy titled Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri.

In a joint Instagram announcement, Dharma Productions, Kartik Aaryan, and Namah Pictures shared a teaser for Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri. Details regarding the release date and the lead actress remain undisclosed. Following the success of Satyaprem Ki Katha, Kartik is reuniting with Namah Pictures once more, with Dharma Productions enhancing the scale of this collaboration.

This film has garnered attention for re-establishing the partnership between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar after their reported fallout in 2022. The rift emerged when Dharma Productions announced a recasting for Dostana 2, which was initially planned to feature Kartik alongside Janhvi Kapoor; although both parties refrained from commenting on any disputes, speculation was rife.

In August of last year, Karan Johar disclosed that he was developing a new project with Kartik. When asked about their collaboration, he mentioned, “We gave one attempt, and for various reasons, it didn’t fructify. However, we have been in conversations to do something, and hopefully, this one will materialise. It’s something we are very excited about.”

He praised Kartik’s contributions, stating, “Kartik has given us films that resonate with the entire country and brought people back to the theatres.” Kartik Aaryan was recently featured in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which achieved significant box office success, and was directed by Anees Bazmee, featuring Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri in key roles.
