After a video of the children flaunting bundles of cash surfaced online, an Uttar Pradesh police officer was sent to police lines.

The two children were of SHO of Behta Mujawar Police Station Ramesh Chandra Sahani, who could be seen in the video seated on a bed with 27 bundles of Rs 500 banknotes. The viral video is reportedly said to be of Sahani’s house.

The Superintendent of Police Siddharth Shankar Meena, took notice of the situation and instructed the Bangarmau circle officer (CO) to carry out an investigation.

According to CO Pankaj Singh, Sahani’s family members could be seen seated with bundles of Rs 500 notes in the popular social media photo shared by him. He said that an investigation was being conducted regarding this matter.

Although the total money received from his house is assumed to be approximately 14 lakhs, however, police have not disclosed the exact amount.

Sahani, however, is believed to have defended himself and said that the picture was shot on November 14, 2021, when he sold a piece of family land.

These days children are doing anything to get viral on the internet, without thinking about the effect of it.

A similar incident to this occurred in Bihar’s Sasaram district where villagers were seen jumping into a drain to retrieve cash. Social media users responded strongly to the incident that happened near the Moradabad district, which is around 150 kilometres from Patna.

In the widely shared video, people could be seen rushing to get hold of bundles of notes that had been submerged in water for a while. Despite their deteriorating conditions, men, women, and children could be seen competing for as many notes as possible in the video. Under the Moradabad bridge of the Sone Canal, in knee-deep water and rubbish, a drama was taking place.

A bundle of Rs 20, Rs 100, and Rs 500 bills were found inside a jute bag by early morning pedestrians under a bridge, leading people to start fishing the bundles and go home to dry them. Locals rushed to the location to get as many notes as they could as the news spread. While some people insisted that the messages were real, others contended that they might be fake and had perhaps been put to spread fear.

Are banks open or closed on May 1 2026? Buddha Purnima holiday details

Banks will remain closed in many parts of India on May 1 2026 due to Buddha Purnima and Labour Day, though some states may see normal operations.

Bank holidays

Bank closures on May 1, 2026, will depend on the Reserve Bank of India’s official state-wise holiday calendar. While the day is observed as Buddha Purnima and Labour Day in several regions, not all states may have a bank holiday. Customers are advised to check with their local branch or official bank holiday list before planning a visit

The holiday status, however, is not uniform across the country, as bank closures are determined based on the Reserve Bank of India’s state-wise holiday calendar.

Banks likely to remain closed in most states

In several states, including Delhi and other major regions, banks are expected to remain shut due to Buddha Purnima. The day is recognised as a public holiday in many parts of the country, leading to closure of bank branches.

Customers planning branch visits on May 1 are advised to check local holiday listings to avoid inconvenience.

States where banks may remain open

Despite the widespread holiday, some states may not observe May 1 as a bank holiday. In such locations, banking services at branches could function normally.

States where banks may remain operational include:

  • Meghalaya
  • Nagaland
  • Rajasthan
  • Sikkim
  • Punjab
  • Haryana
  • Odisha
  • Gujarat

Since bank holidays vary regionally, customers should verify with their local branch.

Digital banking services unaffected

Even in areas where banks are closed, digital services will continue without interruption. Customers can use:

  • Mobile banking apps
  • Internet banking
  • UPI services
  • ATMs

These services remain available regardless of physical branch closures.

Key takeaway

While May 1, 2026, will be a bank holiday in many parts of India due to Buddha Purnima and Labour Day, some states may still have banks open, making it important to check region-specific updates before planning any visit.

Trump rejects Iran peace plan as tensions rise, Tehran signals military readiness

Trump rejects Iran’s peace plan, keeping focus on nuclear concerns as Tehran signals readiness and tensions continue to rise.

Donald Trump statement

U.S. President Donald Trump has rejected a proposal from Iran aimed at easing ongoing tensions, signaling a continued deadlock between the two countries.

The proposal reportedly included steps linked to easing restrictions around the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route. However, the United States declined the offer, maintaining that any agreement must address concerns related to Iran’s nuclear programme.

Washington has made it clear that resolving nuclear issues remains a priority and that partial measures without broader commitments will not be accepted.

Nuclear issue remains central

The U.S. position continues to focus on preventing Iran from advancing its nuclear capabilities. Officials believe that without a comprehensive agreement, temporary arrangements could delay a long-term resolution.

The rejection of the proposal indicates that negotiations remain stalled, with both sides holding firm on key demands.

Iran issues warning

Following the rejection, Iranian officials have issued strong statements, indicating readiness to respond if pressure from the U.S. continues.

Reports suggest that Iran has asserted its military preparedness, warning that any escalation could lead to serious consequences. The remarks reflect growing tensions as diplomatic efforts struggle to produce results.

Rising geopolitical tension

The situation remains volatile, with both countries engaged in a prolonged standoff. Measures such as restrictions on trade routes and strategic pressure points continue to impact the broader region.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical factor in the conflict, given its importance for global energy supplies.

Outlook uncertain

With no immediate breakthrough in sight, tensions between the United States and Iran are expected to persist. The lack of agreement on key issues, particularly the nuclear programme, continues to hinder progress toward de-escalation.
