The Great Indian Family trailer, starring Manushi Chhillar and Vicky Kaushal, has been finally released. From the teaser, it appeared to be lighthearted entertainment, but the trailer has a significant twist that dramatically alters the story. The family film, which Vijay Krishna Acharya is directing, will be released on September 22.

Vicky introduces his character, Bhajan Kumar, and his family, who perform pooja and katha, in the beginning of the trailer. They are Brahmins and are well-respected in society. Manushi is also mentioned, though the trailer skips over her in any way. But as the trailer goes on, a significant twist is revealed.

Vicky learns that he is not his parents’ biological child and that his family is Muslim. The actual story then begins because his family has abandoned him. How the situation has been handled will be intriguing.

It will be interesting to see the new pair on the screen who are trying to present the old story in a new way.

Vijay Krishna Acharya is the writer and director of The Great Indian Family, which is made under the banner of Yash Raj Films. Vicky Kaushal, Manushi Chhillar, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Sadiya Siddiqui, Alka Amin, Srishti Dixit, Bhuvan Arora, Ashutosh Ujjwal, and Bharti Perwani are among the actors who appear in it.

Meanwhile, Vicky last appeared with Sara Ali Khan in the romantic comedy-drama Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. The duo created the magic on the screen as well as on the box office. The film got positive reviews and a surprising box office collection which made the film successful. Sam Manekshaw in Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur will be his next role. He’ll also be in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, which also stars Shah Rukh Khan and Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam.

On the other side, Manushi has a number of projects in the works, including Operation Valentine in Telugu, Tehran, and the action comedy Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.

Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, who appeared in several Hindi films and was particularly remembered for his role in the 2007 comedy Welcome, has died at the age of 56.

Khan was known for playing supporting characters across Hindi cinema and had worked in films spanning several decades. His role as Balu in Welcome remains among his best-known performances.

Mushtaq Khan’s film career

Mushtaq Khan appeared in a wide range of films during his career. His filmography included Aashiqui, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Gopi Kishan, Krantiveer, Raja, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Jodi No. 1 and Hera Pheri.

He also featured in more recent films including Stree 2, Gadar 2, Baby John, Dhoom Dhaam and Jaat. His filmography lists acting work continuing into 2026.

In Welcome, Khan played Balu, a supporting character in the comedy starring Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor and other prominent actors.

Khan’s career also included television work, with his credits spanning a wide range of acting roles over the years.

Mushtaq Khan dies at 56

The actor’s death was reported on September 24, 2026. Reports said Khan had been undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with liver cancer and had been hospitalised for around 15 days. Further details surrounding his death were awaited in the initial reports.

Mushtaq Khan was 56. IMDb lists his date of birth as December 31, 1969.

The newborn is the couple’s second daughter. Deepika and Ranveer became parents for the first time in September 2024, when they welcomed their daughter Dua.
