Man accused of murdering Australian woman in Queensland, arrested in Delhi, had $1 million bounty on head

Man accused of murdering Australian woman in Queensland, arrested in Delhi, had $1 million bounty on head

The Delhi police special cell on Friday has arrested an Indian nurse, who is accused of murdering an Australian woman in Queensland back in 2018.

The accused, Rajwinder Singh, had a bounty of $1 million on his head as the Queensland police had offered this sum, largest ever offer made by any department in return of a tip-off on the accused.

With the help of intelligence inputs, the accused was arrested in a joint operation between the CBI, Interpol, and a special cell.

Toyah Cordingley, 24, was attacked in what has been described as a “frenzied and vicious and sadistic” manner, and her dead body was found in October 2018.

Reports say that on October 21, 2018, Toyah left her house to walk her dog at Wangetti Beach, which is located halfway between the well-known tourist destinations of Cairns and Port Douglas. She never returned. A day later, her father discovered her partially buried corpse in sand dunes.

In an international search to find Singh, Australian officials have requested the public’s assistance.

The accused, who is originally from Buttar Kalan in Punjab, was residing in Innisfail at the time of the murder, some two hours away from the location of the crime.

Singh, a nurse, fled from Australia hours after Toyah’s death was found. He left the country without his three children, wife, and a job. He was detected on camera at Sydney’s main airport.

Vanessa Gardiner, Cordingley’s mother, termed her daughter “beautiful and spiritual.”

Several months ago, Gardiner was heard saying that it was far too soon to take her child’s life. She considers that her daughter has lost out all in her life as she sees her daughter’s friends get married, have children, and do other things.

She also said that on Monday, she was just about to start her first full-time job, which could never happen.

On October 21, 2018, a missing person’s report was filed for Cordingley. The next morning, her body was found at Wangetti Beach, which is close to Cairns.

Twitter new owner Elon Musk conducted a new poll to determine public inclination towards the ‘general amnesty’ of suspended Twitter accounts.

This move came a few days after Musk conducted a poll, based on which he had restored US President Donald Trump’s Twitter account. On November 25, 2022, at around 11:16 PM IST, the findings of the poll survey, which has a 24-hour timeframe, will be released.

Earlier, Musk conducted a poll online to determine whether Twitter users thought Donald Trump’s account should be reactivated. As many as 15,085,458 people participated in the survey, with 51.8 per cent voting in favour and 48.2 per cent against.

Trump’s Twitter account was reinstated, with Musk tweeting, ‘Vox Populi, Vox Dei’ on Saturday.

As of Saturday night, it looked that Trump’s Twitter account had returned. The most recent tweet was from January 8, 2021, and it stated, “To all of you who have asked, I will not be coming to the Inauguration on January 20th.”

Days after his supporters attempted to overthrow the US Capitol, Trump was permanently banned from Twitter in January 2021 by the previous administration. Trump’s supporters invaded the Capitol as the US Congress attempted to recognise Joe Biden’s victory because they were dissatisfied with the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Elon finds #StayWoke tees at office, changes them to #Stay@Work

Maintaining his wit and sarcasm, tech billionaire and richest man on the earth, Elon Musk, replaced the #StayWoke T-shirts, he found in office’s closet, with ‘#Stay@Work’.

This new tweet of Musk has left the Twitter users amused. The Space X founder tweeted a photo of the T-shirt with caption, “Awesome new Twitter merch!”

Musk reportedly established a no-holds-barred work ethic after assuming control of Twitter, igniting a tense ‘work cultural battle’ with thousands of employees.

fifa world cup 2022

As FIFA 2022 World Cup kicked off in Qatar on Sunday, the fans were waiting for their favourite to take the stage and deliver. However, Messi-led Argentina didn’t start off their group stage match of the FIFA 2022 World Cup on an ideal note as they failed to revive themselves in after Saudi Arabia surprised Lionel Messi and company. Even though this is not how it should have ended, it always does. His hunched posture, that aloof look, and that dejected scowl by the end of the match represented Argentina’s mood after the defeat.

Argentina being among the tournament favourites, specially due to it being Lionel Messi’s last World Cup, couldn’t revive themselves after Saudi Arabia’s side surprised the Argentinians with a goal that tied the game. The Green Falcons didn’t stop their as they found another in the opening minutes of the second half.

Argentina, despite the upset, did try to put the game to sleep in the first half, however, were stopped by the offside flag thrice which disallowed three goals for the Argentinian side.

Messi converted the penalty in the starting minutes of the game whereas the Saudi Arabian side with the help of Saleh Al-Shehri tied the score three minutes into the second half and Salem Al-Dawsari scored a stunning goal to give Saudi Arabia the lead. They played outstanding defence, denying Argentina any additional chances as they easily won 2-1.

Argentina was on a winning spree since 2019

Argentina came into the competition as the second-most favoured, after Brazil, and was in the midst of a 36-game winning streak that began in 2019. This run includes a victory over Brazil in the 2021 Copa America competition, giving Lionel Messi his first significant international medal.

Despite the fact that this Argentina team lacked the star power of earlier Argentina teams, it was simple to predict that they would win the competition given their current form. The midfield and defence were strong, and Messi is still among the finest players in the world up front.

Three goals were disallowed for Argentina

In the first half, Argentina scored four goals, but three of them were disallowed due to offsides violations.

With a definite strategy going into the match, Saudi Arabia aimed to play a high defensive line and try to catch Argentina off guard. It can be a dangerous tactic; Lautaro Martinez’s goal was overturned even though he was just slightly offside.

However, the plan ultimately was successful. Seven times in the first half and three more times in the second were offside for Argentina. Nine corner kicks and over 70 per cent of the possession went to Argentina. However, failing to score in front of goal when the team was onside cost the game.
