KL Rahul and Virat Kohli

KL Rahul may be ruled out of the upcoming T20 series against Sri Lanka, while Virat Kohli may be given a break from T20 cricket. A source close to BCCI revealed that the outgoing selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma will pick two Indian limited overs squads for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka, which begins from January 3 and the new panel will not be decided in a week.

It is expected that the interviews of the shortlisted candidates by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CSC) to select the members of the selection committee will be held from December 26 to 28. Not only this, only Hardik Pandya can be seen captaining the team in the T20 series against Sri Lanka.

A BCCI source revealed that the old selection committee will probably select the white ball team against Sri Lanka. And as of now it doesn’t look like Rohit Sharma’s finger will be fully recovered before the T20 Internationals, so in that case Hardik will lead the team. As far as KL Rahul is concerned, his days of T20 international matches seem numbered.

There is also a possibility that the T20 International team will have only specialists in that format. Some players like Virat Kohli can be given a break from T20 format.

Sri Lankan team will play 3 T20 and 3 ODIs on the tour of India. The T-20 series is going to start from January 3. The first T20 match will be played in Mumbai on 3 January. The last match of the T20 series will be held in Rajkot on 7 January.

After a quick rest, both the teams will don ODI shoes. The three match One Day International series is going to start from January 10 and will end on January 15, 2023.
