The news of his death has led to an outpouring of tributes and condolences for Surinder Shinda and his family.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his sadness and paid tribute to the late singer in a Punjabi tweet. He mentioned that the loud voice of Punjab had gone silent forever, but Surinder Shinda’s voice would continue to resonate. Mann prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and for the family to find strength in this difficult time.

Former Punjab Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal also offered his condolences to Surinder Shinda’s family, acknowledging the legendary singer’s invaluable contributions to Punjabi music. He remarked on Surinder Shinda’s incredibly powerful voice and said that he would be missed by millions of fans worldwide.

Singer-actor Harbhajan Mann expressed his grief over the loss of Surinder Shinda, stating that Punjabi music had suffered an irreplaceable loss with the end of the golden era of Punjabi folk singing.

Singer Ashok Mastie described Surinder’s death as the end of an era and expressed how his powerful voice resonated not only in the Punjabi music industry but also globally. He prayed for Surinder Shinda’s soul to find peace in the afterlife.

Punjabi actor Parmeet Sethi also mourned the passing of the great singer Surinder Shinda, praising his strong and melodious voice as a rare blessing. Sethi mentioned that Shinda’s evergreen songs would continue to echo for generations to come.

Saregama, the music company, also paid tribute to Surinder Shinda, acknowledging him as an unforgettable icon in the music industry. They stated that his melodies would continue to live on and inspire future generations. The late Punjabi singer was renowned for his hit songs like Putt Jattan De, Jatt Deona Morh, and Truck Balliya. Throughout his singing career, he delivered many famous songs and made appearances in several Punjabi films, including Putt Jattan De, Ucha Dar Babe Nanak Da, and Badla Jatti Da. Surinder Shinda is survived by his son Maninder Shinda, who is also a musician.

A brutal world built around revenge and espionage

Set around the IC-814 Kandahar hijack and the 2001 Parliament attack, Dhurandhar opens with Ajay Sanyal, an Intelligence Bureau officer played by R Madhavan, who strongly opposes releasing captured terrorists. Despite his resistance, bureaucracy prevails, setting the stage for the covert mission he later leads.

The project introduces its central weapon — Humza Ali Mazari, later revealed to be Jaskirat Singh Rangil — portrayed by Ranveer Singh with ferocity and emotional depth. Dropped straight into Karachi’s dangerous Lyari district, Humza navigates a nexus of gangs, politicians, and the ISI, with the narrative also touching upon tensions between local Pakistanis and Baloch communities.
