Bollywood director Producer Karan Johar took to Instagram to express his excitement over Sara Ali Khan’s next movie titled Ae Watan Mere Watan. The movie is based on a real life event, where Sara will be seen playing a freedom fighter.

Karan shared a selfie with Sara Ali Khan and wrote that he’s extremely excited for calling Sara on board at the Dharma movies. The film will mark, Sara’s debut with Karan Johar’s production house, Dharma. Checkout the post here:

What was even more surprising that Varun Dhawan also made the announcement but is a Sara Ali Khan way. The Student of the Year actor shared a video where he told that Sara would be the lead actor in the upcoming Amazon Prime film, which will go on floors this month. Ae Watan Mere Watan is a thriller, inspired by true events. The film has been written by Darab Farooqui and Kannan Iyer. Backed by Dharmatic Entertainment Production, the film is being produced by Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta, with Somen Mishra serving as the co-producer. Ae Watan Mere Watan is being directed by Kannan Iyer and will release on Prime Video next month.

Varun’s video had his power packed energy as he begins the video by saying that the lovely, beautiful Sara Ali Khan, and the ‘square root of Amrita Singh’ will be leading the film, and then the Coolie Number 1 co-star switches the style to Sara’s famous slam poetry style, and says “Namaste Darshakon, Freedom fighter powerful like sun, Britishers ho gaye stun, khabar brought to you by Dhawan Number 1”

On the work front, Sara was last seen with Dhanush in Atrangi Re and Akshay Kumar. She has a lot of films lines up like Laxman Utekar’s untitled film opposite Vicky Kaushal and Gaslight with Vikrant Massey, Chitrangda Singh.

Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay, while Tabu reprises her role as Meera Deshmukh. The latest chapter also introduces Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj in new roles, creating fresh challenges for Vijay and his carefully planned attempts to protect his family.

Batwara 1947 has had a disappointing run at the box office, and actor Shabana Azmi has now shared her thoughts on why the film may not have connected with audiences. According to Azmi, one possible reason could be the difficulty some viewers had in accepting Sunny Deol as a Muslim character.

The film, which also features Preity Zinta and Shabana Azmi, was released on August 14. It has reportedly earned around Rs 53 crore so far, while Awarapan 2, which released on the same day, has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark.

Discussing the film’s response, Shabana Azmi questioned whether audiences were able to accept Sunny Deol in a Muslim role.

Azmi also suggested that there may have been confusion among some viewers about Sunny Deol’s character in Batwara 1947. She said that even some people who had watched the film believed Deol was playing a Pakistani character, whereas, according to her, he plays an Indian Muslim.
