Divyang Thakkar’s film Jayeshbhai Jordaar starring Ranveer Singh and Shalini Pandey is hogging headlines ever since the makers released its trailer. The film has now landed in legal trouble after a plea was filed by an NGO, Youth Against Crime in the Delhi High Court.

The court on Monday said that the Yashraj film cannot project that pre-natal sex-determination techniques are available for the public without any fretters. Jayeshbhai Jordaar revolves around the issue of female foeticide in India and will hit the silver screen on May 31.

The plea was heard by the bench comprising acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla. The Bench said there is nothing to show in the trailer that the woman is taken to the doctor clandestinely. It has been observed that any pregnant woman can go for routine sonography freely which is prohibited by the law. The Bench argued that the makers cannot trivialise this activity. The hearing of the plea will continue tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh opened up about his prep for Jayeshbhai Jordaar. The actor said that he had to speak exactly like a Gujarati speaks Hindi and it was the most important task. He also said that he is overwhelmed with the response to Jayeshbhai so far.

Apart from Ranveer Singh and Shalini Pandey, the dark comedy also stars Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak Shah in pivotal roles.

Ranveer will be next seen in Karan Johar’s film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani opposite Alia Bhatt. He also has Cirkus with Pooja Hedge, Jacqueline Fernandez and Varun Sharma.

Kerala film producers' outfit imposes temporary ban on actor Sreenath Bhasi for abusing anchor

Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA) on Tuesday imposed a temporary ban on the Malayalam actor Sreenath Bhasi for allegedly misbehaving with the female anchor during an interview.

Reportedly, the 34-year-old actor was giving an interview for a YouTube channel for his upcoming film, Chattambi. During the interview, the actor got furious at a question asked by the anchor, and he started abusing her and the crew members.

Following this, the anchor lodged a complaint with the KFPA. Based on the complaint, Maradu Police arrested the Bheeshma Parvam actor.

The actor was produced before the KFPA on Tuesday. He was released on bail, but he has been temporarily banned from working in films. However, the actor was permitted to complete the shooting of his ongoing films or other projects.

M Ranjith, a president of KFPA told that Bhasi had accepted his mistake and that’s why they are limiting the disciplinary action to a temporary ban.

Another complaint has been filed with KFPA alleging that the actor broke the terms of their contract by taking home an additional fee for the film. Renjith said Bhasi had agreed to reimburse the additional fee.

Sreenath Bhasi is an Indian actor and singer who works predominately in Malayalam films. He started his career as a Radio Jockey on Red FM 93.5. He gained recognition in the film Da Thadiya. Malayalam actor Sreenath Bhasi was booked by Maradu police for allegedly abusing the anchor during an interview.

Reports said the case against Bhasi was filed last week after a journalist complained that the actor used foul language against her and other crew members.

The arrest was made under sections 354 A (1) (IV), 509 and 294 B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Section 354 A (1) (IV) of IPC deals with the offence of making sexually coloured remarks. Section 509 deals with word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman, while section 294 B deals with uttering any obscene song, ballad or words, in or near any public place.

The incident happened during the actor’s film Chattambi’s promotions when the anchor asked him to rate his co-stars on the basis of their rowdiness. Bhasi refused to answer the question following which the anchor asks him to leave on camera. After Bhasi called it a ‘silly’ question, the anchor asked the crew to stop filming.

Reports said Bhasi verbally abused the crew once the camera was turned off. Following the incident, the entertainment portal posted a video on their channel and alleged that Bhasi threw sexist abuses on two women anchors.

The crew member of the YouTube channel said the channel deviates from the usual hard news and instead focuses on funny questions to spread the word about the film as they are an online channel. The crew member also informed that the makers prefer funny questions when they approach the channel for film promotions.

Further, the crew member said Bhasi did not find any questions befitting his status and it is goodwill and entertainment value that fuels an upcoming actor’s success.

His behaviour was not befitting of a lead actor, especially one who comes to promote his film, the crew member concluded.

Sreenath Bhasi was arrested on Monday after being summoned by the police for inquiry. The police have asked him to submit a video clip of the interview to check what pushed him to abuse the anchors and the crew members, the reports said.
