Ramadan, also known as Ramzan, is just around the corner. It is that time of the year when Muslims across the globe will observe the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
As per beliefs, Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year for Islam which opens the gates of heaven and closes the gates of hell. It is said that during this month God revealed the first verses of the Quran, Islam’s sacred text to Mohammed. The night when he revealed the verses is known as The Night of Power.

This year, Ramadan in India will begin on the evening of either April 2 or 1 which will depend on the sighting of the crescent moon and the auspicious month is likely to end on May 2. The dates of Ramadan vary every year based on the phases of the moon. Islam follows a lunar calendar whose 12 months add up to approximately 354 days.
