State Govt to establish handloom, handicraft emporium to each district

On 9th August, Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Chowna Mein called on the Arunachal State Rural Livelihood Mission (ArSRLM) and said that the state government is planning to establish a handloom emporium in all the districts to showcase the rich culture of the state through the handloom activities. Namsai MLA Zingnu Namchoom assured all support to the ArSRLM team and announced to give Rs 5 lakh to each primary level federation consisting of 8 to 10 self help groups (SHGs) for establishment of an office from his local area development fund

Traffic wardens peaceful rally seeking full-fledged induction into traffic cell

On Monday the Itanagar Traffic Wardens (ITWs) took out a peaceful rally from Akashdeep to IG Park against the state government for keeping silent over the demand of full-fledged induction into the traffic cell and regularization of the traffic wardens in the home department. ITWs stated that they have submitted memorandums to the state government from 2011 to 2021, and also appealed the CMO as well as the chief secretary but their plea was ignored. They expressed dismayed over the state Government for not considering their plea and requested the cabinet members to consider discussing their memorandum in the assembly session scheduled to be held on 27 August.

Covid-19 Updates

Arunachal Pradesh reported 154 fresh COVID-19 cases raising the tally to 50,070 two more persons succumbed to the infection which has taken the death toll to 242. Currently, the state has 2,680 active cases, while 47,148 people have recovered from the infection so far.

The Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Raichur, Karnataka, has received an impressive Rs 3,48,69,621 in cash, along with 32 grams of gold and 1.24 kilograms of silver, as donations made by devotees during the recent birth anniversary celebrations of 16th-century saint Raghavendra Swamy.

A video that has gone viral shows more than a hundred priests meticulously counting the offerings — a rare and visually striking sight that has drawn attention across social media.

The contributions were collected over a 30-day period, during which lakhs of devotees visited the temple to pay homage to the revered saint. The mutt is considered a major religious destination for followers of Raghavendra Swamy, who is widely respected in South India for his spiritual teachings and legacy.

Notable past visitors

Last year, the temple also received attention when former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty visited the Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Bengaluru. They were accompanied by Akshata’s parents, Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy, and were seen participating in traditional rituals including aarti at the mutt.

Just hours ahead of the trailer launch, the makers of Salman Khan’s upcoming action film Sikandar dropped a brand-new poster featuring the full cast of the movie. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the highly anticipated film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on March 30, coinciding with Eid.

The new poster gives fans a first glimpse at the ensemble cast, which includes Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Prateik Babbar, Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan, and Sharman Joshi. This is the first time the film’s complete cast has been officially revealed through a promotional visual.
