Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday. He shared update about his health on his social media platform. Taking to Twitter, he said that he isolated himself. He further said that there is no need to worry as he is having mild symptoms of Covid-19.

He also urged to people who came in contact with him that they should also isolate themselves. He said that those who came in contact with him should get done their RTPCR test to check whether they are also covid19 positive or not.

He shared this information in the morning via tweet.

What were his plans for today?

Delhi’s CM Arvind Kejriwal had a meeting scheduled with Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) for today. He had to discuss the plans related to Delhi’s Covid-19 situation in Delhi. The body needs to discuss whether the capital needs more restrictions or not due to an upsurge in cases in Delhi.

What is the current case load of Covid-19 in Delhi?

Currently, the positivity rate of coronavirus rose to 6.6 percent as Delhi has reported 4,099 fresh COVID-19 cases. This is at the highest level since May 18, 2021. It is due to the emerging surge of a highly contagious new variant of Covid-19, Omicron in Delhi.

What is imposed in Delhi?

Currently, Delhi is in ‘Yello Alert’, which is the first level of restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (Grap). If the situation goes worse than this, then its level of restrictions, i.e. ‘Red Alert’ will be imposed in Delhi. It means there will be a complete lockdown in Delhi.

What does Health Minister, Satyendra Jain say?

Due to the increase in caseload of Covid-19 in Delhi, the Health Minister of Delhi, Satyendra raised concern for increasing cases in Delhi. He said that the Omicron variant of coronavirus is the reason behind the surge in infections in Delhi. If the situation goes worse and the bed occupancy rate increases, then the government will implement more restrictions in Delhi. He also said that there is one death reported in Delhi due to Covid-19 in Delhi on Monday.

An Indian Army Officer was beaten up and robbed by three people in Delhi’s Malviya nagar, as per the police.

An Indian Army Officer was beaten up and robbed by three people in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, as per the police.  

According to police, the 48-year-old Army colonel asked for a lighter from one of the accused following which the accused started using foul language.

According to the senior police officer, the complainant Vinit Mahto told police that he went to Malviya Nagar’s Triveni complex in a car along with his friends after attending a seminar on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, he lodged a complaint with the Malviya Nagar police station. Vinit Mahto is a resident of Chanakyapuri in South Delhi.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police Chandan Cowdhary said that the victim reached the Triveni complex around 11:30 pm where he asked a person for a lighter but the latter started abusing the complainant and caught him from behind.

The Police Officer said that the victim pushed him following which he fell on the ground.

Later, the accused was joined by two more persons and they thrashed the Army officer mercilessly. They even took Rs 10000 cash, credit card, voter ID, mobile phones, and other items from the Mahto’s car.

They thrashed the complainant so badly that he became dizzy, the police officer added.

A case under sections 394, 411, and 34 of the IPC was registered at the Malviya Nagar police station, according to the DCP.

In addition, Chowdhary said that the two individuals, Mithun also known as Deepak (22) from Chirag Dilli and Mukul (28) from Jagdamba Camp in Sheikh Sarai, were caught during the inquiry. Two cell phones were discovered in their possession.

According to the police, the third accused is missing and they are trying to apprehend him.

On Wednesday, casualties were reported from Jammu and Kashmir, where Himayun Bhat, a deputy superintendent with Jammu and Kashmir Police along with Colonel Manpreet Singh and Major Ashish Dhonack were killed in a gunfight with terrorists in Anantnag, a southern sector of Jehlum Valley in Kashmir.

Earlier, Nagpur police also used Jawan’s reference and posted an entertaining meme as part of a cybersecurity warning. The police authorities associated different Shah Rukh Khan cameos in Jawan with various password options.

Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh Police posted a meme asking two-wheeler drivers to always wear a helmet. The police agency posted a picture of SRK with a bandage over his head. Be it young or old, never forget a helmet before sitting on a two-wheeler, the caption urged.

Meanwhile, Jawan is doing great at the box office. After its release, the film is making every day a new record in terms of box office collection. Till now the film has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark globally.

Janmashtami celebrations: Delhi police impose traffic restrictions, deploy sufficient personnel

In view of Janmashtami celebrations, Delhi police imposed several travel restrictions in New Delhi. The police mentioned that sufficient personnel have been deployed to regulate traffic flow and guide motorists. 

As part of arrangements in and around the Laxmi Narain Mandir, Birla Mandir in Central Delhi, no vehicle will be allowed on the Mandir Marg from Talkatora Stadium towards Mandir Marg up to Peshwa Road–Mandir Marg T-point and vice-versa. Furthermore, no vehicles will be allowed on the Mandir Lane from Shankar Road roundabout to Mandir Marg.

In the advisory, police stated that buses originating from Shivaji Stadium and going towards Mandir Marg will be diverted towards Panchkuian Road or towards GPO roundabout as per the routes of the buses. Similar arrangements have been enforced around the Iskcon temple at Sant Nagar in South Delhi. 

Delhi Police stated that the Eastern carriageway of Raja Dheer Sain Marg between Captain Gaur Marg and Sant Nagar towards Iskcon temple shall be pedestrianised. They added that motorists can use Captain Gaur Marg and Outer Ring Road to reach their destinations.

The advisory also noted that the diversion of heavy vehicles has been done on a need basis from 8am onwards on Thursday on one carriageway of Captain Gaur Marg coming from Okhla NSIC Metro station towards Iskcon. In addition, vehicles coming from Outer Ring Road will be diverted straight towards Modi Mill flyover for Ashram Chowk.

Police mentioned that the entry to the main Laxmi Narain Mandir will be from Mandir Marg through Kali Bari Marg or Peshwa Road. The advisory further noted that the entry to the Geeta Bhawan and the Vatika will be only through the main temple gates. The diversions and restrictions will remain in force till Friday morning, according to reports.

On Thursday, Delhi Police shared a creative post celebrating the occasion of Janmashtami. The creative read that the only chor behind their reach is the Maakhan-Chor. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the Delhi police wrote, embracing the charm of Krishna’s ‘Maakhan Chor persona, let us celebrate Janmashtami with love and devotion.
