The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, which administers the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), has released the date for the GATE answer key. According to the notification, the answer keys of GATE 2022 will be published on February 21, 2022.

However, the response sheets of applicants will be available on February 15, 2022. Candidates can visit the official website of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) to check the GATE answer keys and the response sheets.

The official website of GATE is gate.iitkgp.ac.in. Aspirants will also have the opportunity to object to the answer key from February 22 to February 25, 2022, respectively. On March 17, 2022, the GATE 2022 results will be declared, and on March 21, 2022, the scorecards will be accessible to the students.

On February 5 and 6, 2022, IIT Kharagpur hosted the first and second days of GATE 2022. GATE 2022 examination will be held till February 13, 2022. The recruitment-cum-admission test for Engineering graduates is being held at IIT Kharagpur in two-time slots. The first time slot is from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm while the second slot is from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm for separate papers.

The question paper for GATE 2022 will be objective type and will have three types of questions. These are Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions, and Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). Negative marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in an MCQ, however, there will be no negative marking for incorrect answers in MSQs or NATs.

Step 1: Visit the official website of GATE, gate.iitkgp.ac.in.
Step 2: Login on the GATE 2022 website with the registration id and password.
Step 3: Click on the designated tab of the View Answer Key.
Step 4: The answer key for GATE 2022 will be displayed on the screen.
Step 5: Check and download the GATE 2022 Answer Key.

The paper of every GATE 2022 Examination is of 100 marks, the General Aptitude (GA) section is similar to all papers which is of 15 marks, and the remaining paper includes the syllabus that is of 85 marks.

As per the updated system aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, students now have an opportunity to improve their performance in selected subjects through a second exam scheduled later in the same academic year.

Who is eligible for second board exam

CBSE has laid down specific conditions for students to appear in the second board examination:

  • It is mandatory for students to appear in the first board exam
  • Students must have appeared in at least three subjects in the main exam
  • Those who have passed can opt for improvement in up to three subjects
  • Students in the compartment category are also eligible to appear
  • Improvement is allowed only in subjects already taken in the first exam

The second exam allows students to improve marks in subjects such as Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and languages.

Who is not eligible

Certain categories of students will not be allowed to appear in the second board exam:

  • Students who did not appear in three or more subjects
  • Those who failed in three or more subjects
  • Students placed in specific non-eligible categories by the board

Such students will have to reappear in the next main examination cycle instead.

Important rules students must note

CBSE has also clarified several important rules:

  • Change of subjects is not permitted in the second exam
  • No corrections in student data will be allowed
  • Schools will submit the list of candidates for the second exam
  • Students can improve performance in a maximum of three subjects

The board aims to reduce exam pressure and give students flexibility to improve scores within the same academic year.

Over 40 lakh students await results
