Kolkata Knight Riders will lock their horns with the inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals in the evening clash of IPL 2021. Eoin Morgan-led KKR will look to seal their playoff berth with a win against RR. On the other hand Rajasthan Royals led by young Sanju Samson will be looking to finish their IPL 2021 campaign on a winning note.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Eoin Morgan-led side started the UAE leg with two consecutive wins but later lost their momentum with 2 losses. If KKR is looking to win big tonight, skipper Morgan himself needs to step-out and smash the ball all-over the park, given his current form, Morgan hasn’t provided much with the bat. With Andre Russell and Lockie Ferguson returning from injury, Kolkata looks strong compared to young guns of RR.

Predicted XI KKR: Shubman Gill, Venkatesh Iyer, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan (c), Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik (w), Sunil Narine, Shivam Mavi, Lockie Ferguson, Varun Chakaravarthy

Rajasthan Royals

Having lost their previous match, Rajasthan Royals are already out of the playoffs race. For Rajasthan, their batting and bowling both have been inconsistent in this season. However, young talents like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Chetan Sakariya and Kartik Tyagi have been asset for their team. RR will be looking to finish their IPL 2021 journey on high note, as their chances to qualify for playoffs are very thin.

Predicted XI RR: Evin Lewis, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (w/c), Shivam Dube, Glenn Phillips, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Shreyas Gopal, Kuldip Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Chetan Sakariya

Election Commission officials check CM Eknath Shinde’s bag amid Uddhav Thackeray’s allegation

The Election Commission on Wednesday checked Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s bag amid Uddhav Thackeray’s allegation.

The Chief Minister’s bags were checked after his helicopter landed at the Palghar Police ground helipad. The action followed after Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray questioned the election panel after his bags were checked by officials. The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief said his bags had been inspected by the election authorities after he arrived in Latur and Yavatmal districts over the last two days.

He asked the Election Commission officials if the same action will be taken against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Addressing a public meeting in Wani, Uddhav Thackeray said that he is not angry with the ECI officials as they were doing their duty, and questioned whether they check the bags of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis.

Reacting to the allegations, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said that Uddhav Thackeray was trying to divert the attention by needlessly protesting against the checking of his bags by poll officials and was seeking votes by whining.

The Deputy Chief Minister questioned what is wrong in checking bags, adding that their bags were also checked during campaigning, and that there was no need for this level of frustration. He mentioned that the Election Commission officials followed the same procedure with his campaign team too.

Earlier in the day, bags of deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar were also checked by EC officials in Baramati. The Maharashtra BJP had also posted a video on X showing officials checking Devendra Fadnavis’ bags.

The Maharashtra Assembly Election will be held on November 20. The counting of votes will take place on November 13.

Chennai doctor stabbed 7 times by son of cancer patient, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin orders inquiry

In a harrowing incident, a Tamil Nadu government doctor was stabbed seven times at a Chennai hospital on Wednesday morning by a young man whose mother was being treated for cancer by the same doctor. The man was also a patient attender at that hospital.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian said that the doctor, an oncologist, is also a heart patient and suffered injuries to his upper chest and head. The Minister added that the doctor is in the Intensive Care Unit, or the ICU, but is in stable condition. Reportedly, a senior doctor said that his colleague has a pacemaker and was cut on his forehead and back, as well as behind his ear, and was also hit on his stomach.

The young man who stabbed him has been arrested. The gruesome attack took place in the OPD, or outpatient department, of the Kalaignar Centenary Hospital in the city’s Guindy neighbourhood. The young man reportedly suspected the doctor had prescribed incorrect medication to his mother, a cancer patient.

The 26 years old accused tried to escape after stabbing the doctor but was caught and handed over to the police. He used a small knife hidden on his person, but insisted there was no security lapse, the Health Minister said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister MK Stalin has ordered an inquiry and promised medical aid, as well as providing assurances such an attack won’t happen again. Taking to X, the Chief Minister said that the service of doctors is laudable and it is their responsibility to ensure their safety.

He added that the selfless work of our government doctors in providing treatment to patients regardless of the time is immeasurable. He further assured that the government will take measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

This incident once again questions the safety of healthcare workers at their workplace, an issue that shook the nation after the rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital.
