Saif Ali Khan’s attacker gained entry through house help, Police investigate connection

Mumbai police are deepening their investigation into the stabbing of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, focusing on the disturbing possibility that one of his house helps knew the attacker and facilitated his entry into Khan’s residence. The 54-year-old actor was left with six stab wounds, one dangerously close to his spine, and has undergone successful surgery at Lilavati Hospital.

The police believe that the house help might have connections with the attacker, raising serious concerns about the security measures employed by celebrities in Mumbai’s most affluent areas. The help in question is currently being interrogated to unravel the motive and the exact circumstances leading up to the incident.

CCTV footage from Khan’s residence failed to capture any entry in the two hours preceding the attack, indicating that the assailant had entered the premises earlier and lay in wait. The Mumbai Police, embarrassed by this breach in security in one of the city’s poshest neighborhoods, are now reviewing additional footage to track down the assailant who managed to flee the scene post-attack.

This event has not only shaken the local community but has also ignited political debates concerning the efficacy of the state’s law and order. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized the state government, pointing to this incident as indicative of a broader failure to protect even the city’s most high-profile residents.

Amidst growing public concern for safety in Bandra, a hub for many such celebrities, actress Pooja Bhatt has publicly called for increased police presence in the area, highlighting a sense of diminishing security in what is often dubbed the ‘queen of the suburbs’.

This incident, marking another high-profile attack in Mumbai, raises critical questions about the safety of public figures and the effectiveness of their personal security arrangements. The community, alongside local authorities, is hopeful for swift justice and reassurances of enhanced security measures.

ISRO SpaDeX mission demonstrating satellite docking for India’s space station

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully conducted the SpaDeX docking experiment, marking a significant advancement in India’s space capabilities. Early on Thursday, January 16, 2025, ISRO joined the ranks of the USA, Russia, and China by mastering the complex technology required for spacecraft docking in orbit.

Launched on December 30, 2024, by the PSLV C60, the two satellites involved in the experiment, SDX01 (Chaser) and SDX02 (Target), reached their designated positions and executed a flawless docking maneuver. This operation was closely monitored by the team at ISRO’s Mission Operations Complex (MOX) at the Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network (ISTRAC).

Celebrating this achievement, ISRO shared on social media, “Docking Success Spacecraft docking successfully completed! A historic moment. India became the 4th country to achieve successful space docking. Congratulations to the entire team!”

Following the successful docking, ISRO has maintained control over the newly unified satellite structure and plans to conduct undocking and power transfer tests in the forthcoming days. This mission, beyond its immediate success, aims to lay the groundwork for more ambitious endeavors such as manned lunar missions, sample returns from the moon, and potentially an Indian Space Station.

The SpaDeX mission also serves as a demonstration of vital technologies like electrical power transfer between docked spacecraft, which will be crucial for future in-space robotic operations and composite spacecraft management post-undocking.

ISRO stated that the next steps involve validating the docking process through ground simulations and ensuring the mission’s objectives continue smoothly with subsequent experiments planned over the mission’s expected life span of up to two years.

This milestone not only demonstrates ISRO’s growing capabilities in space technology but also promises to bolster India’s position in future international space exploration initiatives.
