Amid the ongoing protest by the students of Bihar’s Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, a student lost his cool and threw black ink at the pro-vice-chancellor Hanuman Pandey. The incident took place at Pandey’s residence on Sunday.

The now-viral video was shared by the independent journalist Utkarsh Singh on Twitter. In the video, two students can be seen speaking to the pro-VC. One of the students suddenly gets up and throws ink on him.

Following the incident, a police complaint was filed by the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University against the accused student who went to the pro-VC’s residence on a holiday and created a ruckus.

Reports said students are demanding an appointment of a regular vice-chancellor. The vice-chancellor of BR Ambedkar University, Muzaffarpur Hanuman Pandey is also an acting vice-chancellor of Tilka Manjhi University, but he visited the university only four days in the last 29 months.

The TMBU students have been protesting since July 15 for the issuance of degrees and certificates of their completed courses.

The degrees of students are allegedly pending in the absence of the signature of the acting vice-chancellor Hanuman Pandey, who reportedly has not visited the university for months. The Bhagalpur University Teachers Association (BHUTA), Bhagalpur University Service Teachers’ Association (BHUSTA), and University Department Teachers’ Association (UDTA) are also protesting at the university campus.

The registrar said the authorities are trying hard to convince the students and control the situation. They also promised to address all their concerns, the Hindustan Times reported. The report in the leading daily further informed that Raj Bhawan had called a meeting of registrars and exam controllers for two days to address all the issues.

This is not the first time that students have protested against delayed examinations and results in the state. Bihar universities like Magadh University, Jai Prakash University, and several other universities have reported the same problem earlier.

A similar incident had taken place in Bihar’s Begusarai where, similarly, a thief tried to snatch the phone of a passenger from a moving train, however, to his surprise, the thief was not able to pull off the bold theft as the passenger managed to save his phone while also grabbing on to his one arm and pulling him along the moving train.
