Arunachal Pradesh’s Vijaynagar circle in Changlang district was to be connected to Miao some 8 years ago by a 157-km road. Only 15 km of the road work has been complete forcing villagers to climb jungles and ravines. Salt per kg costs Rs 200 here.

An African proverb goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” But in modern 21st century India, a stretcher-ridden villager in remote Arunachal Pradesh had to be carried by a team of 35 villagers to the nearest hospital some 157 km away through jungles and ravines – all because a road promised 8 years ago has still not been completed.

A report in EastMojo said the mother of Sayedwe Yobin, a 25-year-old student, from the remote Gandhigram village was taken to hospital in a makeshift stretcher in a 5-day walk over 157 km.

The report, which doesn’t mention the name of Sayedwe’s mother, said she was not keeping well after she was nearly electrocuted in 2017 but her health began to decline in August, and needed immediate medical care.

Left with no option, Sayedwe decided to take her to Miao by foot and on his back. But luckily, other villagers offered to help and a makeshift stretcher was made for the ill woman so that 4 people could carry her instead of just her son. The team of 35 then set out to Miao. The journey began on August 31 and the villagers reached Miao on September 4.

Gandhigram village lies in Vijaynagar circle of Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district. Miao, the nearest town with a hospital, is 157 km away from Vijaynagar. Though Miao and Vijaynagar were to be connected by road as part of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and a foundation stone laid in 2013, only a 15-km stretch has been laid even after almost 8 years.

The journey of Sayedwe and the villagers was not easy, snaking through dense forests on an incline, crossing rivulets and uneven terrain; sometimes downhill and, at others, a very steep climb. The villagers also had to rest at night for which they needed to fashion makeshift huts and cook for the entire day. But it was the only way to save my mother, Sayedwe added in relief, now that his mother was finally getting medical attention.

The lack of hospital and roads is not the only problem here. Villagers in Gandhigram pay a very steep price for essentials as porters are required to carry goods through the same jungle. A villager said a kilo of salt costs Rs 200 in Gandhigram.

A hilarious video grabbed our attention on social media, where a village drunk man can be seen giving a terrific solution to overcome Team India’s failure in 19th over. The video was shared by Chhattisgarh IAS officer Awanish Saran.

In the video an old man can be seen in a drunken state, when he’s asked what should team India do to stop losing out the match in the 19th over. The man who looks totally out of senses comes up with a rather comic solution, when he says, “19wa over pehle fekwa lo” (then throw the 19th over first).

The video is being hugely shared on social media and people are coming up with funny reaction. A user wrote that this technique should not go out of India, while other wrote that this is what a solution sounds like.

Checkout the video here:

However, even after losing the first match to Australia in Mohali due to the 19th over, India managed to clinch the trophy from the guest. India won the second match with Rohit Sharma’s 46 out of 20 balls in the second T20 match in Nagpur.

And last night both the teams played the third match in Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. With Virat Kohli’s 68 of 43 balls and Suryakumar Yadav’s 69 of 39 balls helped India to Australia by 2-1 in the three match T20 series. Coming to bat first, Australia made 186 runs, but the current form of India middle order batsmen found the run chase too easy.

After winning the T20 series by 2-1 against Australia, India will now play host to South Africa for the three-match T20 series before heading to Australia for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which will also be played in Australia from October 16. India will play it’s first game opposite Pakistan on October 23.

The Patidar Samaj of the city has submitted a memorandum to the SDM Manisha Vaske demanding the arrest of the thieves.

Sharing a video of this incident a Twitter user wrote that the thieves took away Lord Shiva’s serpent and Jaldhari. They were caught on CCTV of Shiv temple in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh.

Interestingly, one social media user wrote that when the government would only concentrate on the development of Adanis (Gautam Adani) and Ambanis (Mukesh Ambani), the common people would only do these things.

The incident happened on the night of September 19 or September 20. A case was registered at Tal police station. Some people have allegedly manipulated and edited the CCTV footage of the thieves.

The police station in charge Nagesh Yadav has appealed the people to share the video as it was and not share doctored videos of this incident. A search was on to identify the thieves. He further said that the thieves would be arrested soon.

According to the local media reports, the three thieves entered the Shiva temple’s premises around 2 am and tried to break the lock of the donation box, but they failed to do so. After that, they smashed the main gate of the temple and took away the silver and gold used in the decoration of the Shivling.
