What is the history behind the National Science Day?
On National Science Day, CV Raman discovered the Raman Scattering or Raman effect in 1928. It defines the elastic scattering of the photons by the matter. This means there is an energy exchange and change in the direction of light. So, to commemorate this victory, the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) asked the Central Government to mark this day as the National Science Day (NSD). After this, it is observed every year on February 28.
