Checkout the ways to reduce hair fall during winters

Even if you take excellent care of your hair, you could occasionally spot strands on your floor or on your bed. After all, who doesn’t dream about having dense cascading hair that sways in the wind. But no matter how well you take care of your hair, there are still certain strands that keep falling and this winter you might be losing much more.

But not to worry because here are some sure shot remedies that will help you prevents hair loss and prepare for winter in advance.

Avoid the use of heating appliances

The dry winter time breeze causes hair to become even more rough and frizzy. You are most likely on a mission of self trap, doing irreparable harm to your hair by using heating appliances like straighteners, curlers, or blow dryers. The hair shaft and cuticle are severely harmed by thermal tools by reducing the moisture in hair.

Winter knocks additional stress on your hair, so utilizing heat styling equipment can make it brittle and more prone to breaking. Stop using such artificial equipment that can cause severe damage to your hair. On the other hand, routine haircuts keep the hair healthy and clear of knots without doing major harm.

Cover your hair when you step out

Our hair needs the same protection in winters, as we protect it from sun’s harmful rays in summers. The winter wind is cool that can easily make your hair rough and dry.

Not only this winter wind can also result in hair dandruff but also extreme hair fall. To prevent wind from coming into direct touch with your hair, try wearing a fashionable hat, cap or a scarf.

Oil it rather than washing it often

The natural oil present in the hair gets removed due to frequent shampooing which results in increased dryness and irritation. Hence, try to increase the interval between washes and try not to wash you hair more than twice a week. To maintain the hair’s natural moisture balance, use a light shampoo that contains no sulfates .

Never neglect oiling your hair before washing it. Oil nourishes and penetrates deep into the hair strands. It aids in promoting nutrition and blood flow to the hair follicle. It prevents split ends and hair breakage and keeps the hair cuticles moisturized. So, give yourself a decent hot oil massage every night before shampooing your hair. This will make you feel at ease and your hair will be healthier in the winter.

Regular scalp massage

Scalp massage during winters can help you increase hair thickness and growth. Natural oils, such as olive oil, coconut oil, and almond oil, are proven to deeply moisturize hair while calming the muscles in the scalp. Aloe vera gel mixed with warm coconut oil is thought to be a good home treatment for dandruff.

The cold weather makes your scalp more prone to dryness. As a result of the lack of moisture brought on by the temperature drop, the scalp becomes dry and itchy. Because scalp oil glands are essential for healthy hair, it is crucial to maintain your scalp moist and hydrated. Using a conditioner after each hair wash and using a hair mask once or twice a week will keep your hair in good condition.

Avoid hot hair shower

Hot shower is our favorite temptation during cold days. Whereas, using hot water may dry out your hair as it starts removing the natural oils and moisture present in it.

Your scalp is also damaged by hot water in addition to your skin. Hot water allegedly destroys the lipid fatty layer, which is essential for good hair growth. The natural oils and moisture from the scalp skin and hair strands are stripped away by water that is too hot, which eventually makes hair highly prone to breaking.

Avoid taking a shower in water that is too hot. However, prolonged use of hot water can dry out hair by stealing its moisture, rather the use of warm water works better.
