Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal hits out at Centre for the Ordinance that was moved taking back the power over transfer of government officials from Delhi government.
Kejriwal while addressing a press conference said the move by the Centre is a direct challenge to the majesty of the Supreme Court and also is a contempt of the apex court.
The Supreme Court last week had passed a judgement giving the the power on the hands of Delhi government for transferring of government staff and officials working under the Delhi government.
On Friday night, the President of India issued an ordinance to nullify the judgement of the apex court with the powers again in the hands of the Centre.
Kejriwal in the press conference said the Centre brought the ordinance at 10 PM, five hours after the Supreme Court was closed as it knew the ordinance cannot be challenged before the apex court before July 1.
He said the Centre was aware of the fact that if it would have moved the ordinance while the Court was open, it would have immediately be rejected by the Court.
The Supreme Court operations will remain off due to summer vacations and will re-open on July 1. He further informed that the Delhi Government will challenge the ordinance the same day, the Supreme Court opens.
Kejriwal said now bureaucrats will have a control over the Delhi government, he added that the SC in its order passed last week had clearly stated that an official who has this knowledge that the Minister under which he works do not hold any right for transferring him/her, then he/she will have no fear of the Minister taking his job for not performing his duty diligently.
He further asked that whether the judgement is being brought for just 1.25 months, and also raised questions on the review petition, which is filed by the Centre over Supreme Court’s judgement last week.
Kejriwal said, when there is an ordinance issued already then what is the point of a review petition as the ordinance has already negate the Court judgement.
The Delhi CM further addressing the media said to the people of Delhi that the development works will slow down due to the ordinance but he will not let them stop.
The AAP leader also warned that in the coming days he will organise big rallies approaching the public to take on the Union government and even claimed that the BJP is not going to win even a single Lok Sabha seat out of the total seven seats in Delhi.
Kejriwal made an appeal to all the opposition parties to vote against the ordinance in the Rajya Sabha. He said he will personally meet with leaders of various opposition parties for their support.
