Patna: Over 150 children fall ill after eating at Bihar Diwas celebration

More than 150 children fell ill due to food poisoning and dehydration in Patna after they had food at the Bihar Diwas celebration. Several children are currently admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital.

The hospital sources said that the conditions of many are still critical. Doctors said that the children ate something at the food stall and after which their health condition started deteriorating.

Bihar Diwas celebration event took place on Tuesday that is March 22 and the event was attended by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The event took place at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan. In the event, school students from across the state were invited for the event.

He wrote in Hindi, Sharm Karo Nitish Kumar, jehrile sharab ke baad hue maut se dil nahi bhara jo ab Bihar Diwas me 200 baccho ko jehrila khana khila dia. Mai bhagwan se baccho ke jaan ki dua mangata hun. (Shame on Nitish Kumar, the death after the poisonous liquor did not fil your heart that now you fed poisonous food to 200 children in Bihar Diwas.)

Meanwhile, after Holi, the cases of spurious liquor consumption also came to light. A number of people also died after consuming spurious liquor. Around 22 people have died since Saturday in Bhagalpur, whereas, in Banka, around 12 people died and 3 in Madhepura.

In other news, according to authorities, a 17 years old teenager reportedly killed an old man in Nazafgarh, Delhi. The man was his neighbour and he killed him because he was irritated over his pet dog who was barking constantly. The age of that old man who was killed was 85 years old.

Hyderabad police foil terror attack, three persons arrested

Hyderabad Police Commissioner said that Zahed received a consignment of four hand grenades and was going to carry out sensational terror attacks in Hyderabad.

The Hyderabad police on Sunday arrested three persons for allegedly plotting terror attacks in the city. Four hand grenades, net cash of Rs 5,41,800, five cell phones and a motorcycle have also been seized from the accused.

The accused have been identified as Abdul Zahed (39) of Malakpet, Sameeruddin (39) of Akber Bagh and Maaz Hasan Farooq (29) of Humayun Nagar, Mehidipatanam. Police said that Abdul Zahed was involved in several terror cases in the past and revived his contacts with Pakistan’s ISI. He received a consignment of four hand grenades and terror attacks in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, CV Anand, said that Zahed received a consignment of four hand grenades and was going to carry out sensational terror attacks in Hyderabad. On specific information, the raids were conducted and three persons were arrested at Malakpet.

The Police Commissioner said that three absconding persons Farhatullah Ghouri alias FG, Siddique Bin Osman alias Rafique alias Abu Hamzala and Abdul Majeed alias Chotu all natives of Hyderabad and wanted in several cases were now settled in Pakistan and working under the aegis of ISI. In past, they recruited local youth and radicalized them and got executed terror attacks such as a blast near Sai Baba Temple, Dilsukhnagar in 2002, a bus blast at Ghatkopar in Mumbai and Task Force office blast at Begumpet in 2005. They also attempted to cause blasts near Ganesh Temple Secunderabad in 2004.

According to the Hyderabad police, Zahed has revealed that Farhatullah Ghori, Abu Hamzala and Mazeed revived their contacts with him and they motivated and given financial support to carry out the attacks.

Police said that at the behest of Pakistan-based handlers Zahed recruited Samuddin and Maaz Hasan. During search operations, four grenades were recovered from the trio. He was planning to hurl a grenade targeting public gatherings through his group members.

In an odd act of affection, a man got bitten by a Cobra on the lips when he tried to kiss the snake in the Shivamogga district of Karnataka.

After the incident, the health of the youth deteriorated and was immediately rushed to the hospital, from where he was discharged after treatment. The video of this incident has gone viral on social media and took the users by storm.

Post-rescue, Alex tried to Kiss the Cobra

Two youths named Alex and Ronnie are reptile rescuers by profession. A few days ago, they received information about two cobra snakes getting spotted at a wedding house. Both of them reached the spot and rescued the snakes, reports said.

After rescuing the snake, Alex started playing with the Cobra and tried to plant a kiss on it but was left in shock when the snake bit him on his lips. Injured Alex was immediately rushed to the nearby McGann Hospital, from where he was discharged after treatment. Doctors said the youth’s life was saved only because he received treatment timely.

Youth dies after a snake bite in Korba

In a recent incident from Korba, Chhattisgarh, instead of receiving treatment after getting bitten by a snake, a man risked his life by believing in exorcism.

Reports said the incident took place in the Ringnia village of Podi block. A man named Dhansay had gone to his farm and was bitten by a poisonous snake.

Instead of taking the injured to the hospital, the family took him to a person from the Baiga community, who performed exorcism upon the injured. In absence of not receiving treatment timely, the poison spread in the body of the young man. He was admitted to a hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival.

A video of Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow cop taking a bribe from a youth caught the internet’s attention on Sunday.

The video was shared by a Twitter user who informed that the incident took place near the Charak Police Station in Lucknow’s chowk area. The cop, in the video, could be seen accepting the bribe by the roadside.

In June, a Sub-Inspector was arrested by the Anti-corruption wing in Lucknow for accepting a bribe in the city. The Sub-Inspector was identified as Pradeep Yadav who was undertraining and was posted at Chinhar police station in Lucknow, reports said.

Yadav had sought a Rs 30,000 bribe from a person who was an accused in a case of assault and breach of peace that took place on May 2 in Kalamunda village in the Jarcha area, the reports said.

A trap was led by the Anti-Corruption team to catch the Sub-Inspector red-handed.

In another bribe incident in Lucknow, a junior engineer was suspended for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 to cover up electricity theft.

In August, another incident came to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Noida wherein a constable posted at the Sector 57 police chowki was arrested for accepting a bribe of a whopping Rs 20,000 for releasing a suspected drug smuggler.

The video of the incident took the internet by storm following which the accused cop was arrested and went through departmental inquiry. The Noida police commission said the department won’t tolerate such an attitude and act strictly against officials who try to malign the department’s image.

Corruption punishment in India

The PC Act was amended in 2018 to criminalise the giving and accepting of bribes. Section 8 of the PC Act which deals with the offence of bribing a public servant, provides for a punishment of up to seven years imprisonment or a fine or both.
