How to make a chicken sandwich, with or without dhokla, and it’s trending!

Hardik Patel made fun of Rahul Gandhi for liking of chicken sandwich, but a sandwich is a sandwich, here’s the recipe

Hardik Patel

Hardik Patel has given up the ghost of being a Congress leader. He quit the party in a huff today and released a long letter finding fault with the Congress leadership and state leaders. One of the barbs was that Gujarat Congress leaders were busy arranging chicken sandwiches for visiting leaders instead of engaging with the people etc etc.

The chicken sandwich jibe is being read in the media to be a jibe at Rahul Gandhi, who also got another sharp reference to his vacations abroad. The Gandhi scion’s penchant for regular vacations has often left several scribes and opinion writers writhing in throes of righteous self-flagellation, because how could he go on vacation when his party is lying supine as the BJP led by leaders who don’t take vacations and are on full-time duty. You get the drift?

But please don’t insult a chicken sandwich. That is serious territory. A good chicken sandwich can satisfy a hungry stomach. Granted, it is not as filling as a thali but it has its space for the times when one needs something more than a nibble and slightly less than a greasy biryani (veg, of course!).

A cursory Google search will show, like we found out, the USDA says a 100 gram sandwich has 283 calories with total fat 16 g, saturated fat 4.7 g, cholesterol 33 mg, sodium 526 mg, potassium 194 mg, total carbs 21 g, protein 13 g, and bits of Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Vitamin D, Vitamin B6, Cobalamin and Magnesium to boot. Imagine, a 200gm sandwich. Aah, pleasure!

Ingredients to make a home-made chicken sandwich

2 slices of bread (according to the person)
1 teaspoon mayonnaise
1 cup boiled chicken
1 teaspoon pepper
1 capsicum
1 lettuce
Some vegetables (veggies of your choice)

Recipe for Homemade Chicken Sandwich

Separate the boiled chicken pieces in a bowl
Now add mayonnaise and black pepper
Mix all of them properly
Take a slice of bread and spread this mixture on it
Finely chop the lettuce leaves and capsicum.
Now put it on the mixture that is placed on the bread
Place chicken pieces
Place another slice of bread on top and cut it into two halves

What’s more you can add green mint chutney and spice it up with a couple of chillies, what the heck, add bits of dhokla too, and soak the bread in the dal for more flavour! It still remains a chicken sandwich, Hardik Patel or not!

Supriya Sule to move privilege motion against BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri

NCP MP Supriya Sule along with a TMC leader have written to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla stating their intention to move a privilege motion against BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri. Reportedly, during the discussion of Chandrayaan 3 success, Bidhuri’s remarks calling his parliament colleague a terrorist, militant etc triggered an uproar in the House with opposition leaders demanding strong action against him.

Notably, if the privilege motion is carried forward, it could potentially result in serious consequences to BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri. Speaking on the matter, NCP leader Supriya Sule said that Ramesh Bidhuri is a frequent offender, adding that she along with a TMC leader wrote to Om Birla regarding moving a privilege motion against the BJP MP. The NCP leader further mentioned that two days ago, Ramesh Bidhuri had heckled a senior member of the Parliament. She expressed that she condemns such unruly behaviour.

Meanwhile, Clyde Crasto, the national spokesperson of NCP’s Sharad Pawar-led group, expressed his dismay at the behaviour of BJP MPs Harsh Vardhan and Ravi Shankar Prasad, who were observed laughing instead of intervening to correct Bidhuri’s remarks. The spokesperson noted that what is very disgusting is that BJP MPs Harsh Vardhan and Ravi Shankar Prasad were laughing instead of stopping or correcting Bidhuri from speaking in such a manner.

Crasto further urged immediate action against Bidhuri, enquiring why he has not yet faced suspension. The NCP spokesperson said that the Lok Sabha Speaker must take action immediately. Will the BJP suspend him from the party, or will they give him a promotion, he questioned.

Reacting to the developments, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey called for an investigation into the conduct and remarks of Danish Ali as well. Nishikant Dubey, while condemning Bidhuri’s comments, underlined that parliamentary decorum must be upheld. He highlighted that obstructing another MP and providing a running commentary during their allotted time are actions that warrant reprimand under Lok Sabha rules.
