The Indian National Congress will hold a Mahangai Par Hall Bol rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi today. The Congress workers from different states are being gathered at the rally site.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that this was not an election rally. It was a befitting message to the insensitive central government as the people of the country remain troubled by inflation and unemployment.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted that Raja was busy earning friends and the people were suffering from inflation. Today, people have to think ten times even before buying what they need. Only the Prime Minister was responsible for these problems. They would keep adding voices against inflation, the king will have to listen.

The Congress said that people should have gotten relief after the Covid-19 pandemic but the Modi (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) made inflation has brought disaster. That is why the Congress party was holding a rally on inflation at the Ramlila Maidan.

The Congress alleged that the inflation was constantly making new records in the government of those who raised the slogan ‘Bahut hui dearness ki maar, ab ki baar Modi sarkar’. The life of the common man has become difficult due to inflation, which could not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The party said that the call of ‘Halla Bol’ was echoing all around. No longer have to be silent, through the Mehangai Par Halla Bol rally, there will now be a war against Modi-created inflation.

The party also held protests across the country from August 17 to August 23 against price rises and increasing unemployment. It organised several Mehangai Chaupals interactive meetings at Mandis, retail markets and other locations in all assembly constituencies.

Accusing the Modi government of poor economic mismanagement, Jairam Ramesh said that Inflation was being exacerbated by higher taxes on essential goods like curd, buttermilk, and packaged food grains, while the transfer of public assets to crony capitalists and the introduction of the misguided Agnipath scheme were making a bad employment situation worse.

The political deadlock over the NEET paper leak issue continued in Parliament on Wednesday, with Opposition parties demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan before any discussion takes place. The Centre, however, maintained that it is fully prepared to debate the matter during the ongoing Monsoon Session.

Leading the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said there could be no fair discussion on the NEET issue unless Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from his post.

Centre rejects Opposition’s condition

Responding to the Opposition’s demand, Leader of the House JP Nadda said the government was not avoiding a discussion and remained open to debating all issues, including the alleged NEET paper leak.

He said the government had already made its position clear and described it as transparent, adding that it was willing to discuss every matter raised by the Opposition.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also reiterated that the Centre had been ready for discussions since the beginning of the Monsoon Session. He said the government had consistently conveyed its willingness to debate the NEET issue and other important matters.

Rijiju added that if the Opposition was looking for reasons to avoid a discussion, it would not be appropriate. According to him, the procedure and timing of the debate would be decided after consultations among all parties under the Chair’s guidance.

Opposition maintains resignation demand

The government also informed the House that its willingness to discuss the issue had been communicated to Congress leaders and representatives of other political parties.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav echoed the Opposition’s stand, saying students were seeking the resignation of the Education Minister before any discussion. He asserted that the resignation should come first, followed by parliamentary debate on the issue.

Akhilesh Yadav also joined Rahul Gandhi and other Opposition MPs during a march towards the Prime Minister’s residence in New Delhi on Tuesday as part of the protest over the NEET controversy.
