Days after hate speeches were made by Hindu right-wing leaders, priest against Muslims in Haridwar and Delhi, Pakistan has summoned the Indian envoy at the High Commission in Islamabad over rising concern of hate speeches against minorities in India.

Pakistans also asked him to convey its concerns over multiple genocide calls against minorities by Hindu group leaders in Dharam Sansand oragnised in Haridwar from December 17 to 19.

India’s charge d’affaires M Suresh Kumar was summoned by the Pakistani officials on Monday afternoon. In an official statement, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan ministry asked him to convey over the widely reported open calls by Hindutva proponents for carrying out genocide of Indian Muslims.

It was highly reprehensible that neither the organisers have expressed any regret nor the Indian government has condemned or taken any action against them, the ministry said.

The Foreign Office also said the continued incidents of violence against Muslims highlighted a worsening trend of Islamophobia and presented a grim picture about the fate of Muslims in India. India is expected to investigate such hate speeches and incidents of widespread violence against the minorities and take measures to stop such incidents from recurring in the future, the Ministry also said.

Several right wing speakers were made provocative statements at Haridwar Dharam Sansad organised by Yati Narasinghanand Giri of the Juna Akhada, who is already under police scanner for making hate speeches and inciting violence against Muslims.

Narsinghanand, the priest of Dasna temple in Ghaziabad, has been facing several FIRs in Uttar Pradesh for calling for a war against Muslims and urged Hindus to take up weapons to ensure a Muslim didn’t become the Prime Minister in 2029.

However, Pakistan conveyed to the Indian side that the reported hate speeches were viewed with grave concern by the civil society and a cross-section of people in the country.

Several Congress and the Trinamool Congress leaders have condemned Daharam Sansad calling it a hate speech assembly and called for strict action against those involved.
