After the attack on BJP President JP Nadda’s convoy, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered a probe into the incident, while alleging that the incident was staged by the saffron party. The BJP party has indulged into drama to hog limelight as the party couldn’t manage to get people for their rally, said Banerjee at a public rally in Kolkata on Thursday.
With all the central forces at its disposal, why BJP could not protect its party chief during his visit to Bengal, questioned Banerjee, while insinuating that its party workers are attacking fellow activists and blaming it on the ruling Trinamool Congress.
Banerjee also took potshots at Nadda, who is on a two-day visit to the state ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, said BJP has no other work, sometimes home minister is here, other times Chaddha, Nadda, Fadda, Bhaddha, all are here. When they have no audience, they call their workers for doing nautanki, she said.
On Thursday, the convoy of BJP leaders including Nadda, Mukul Roy, Dilip Ghosh, Kailash Vijayvargiya was attacked with stones, bricks and glass bottles, on their way to Diamond Harbour to meet party workers for the elections.
After the incident, several BJP leaders condemned the action and demanded strict action against the culprits. Union Home Minister Amit Shah called the attack sponsored violence, alleging that under Trinamool rule, Bengal has descended into an era of tyranny and anarchy.
The Centre also sought a report from the Bengal government over security lapse during Nadda’s visit.
Reacting to the allegations, Banerjee questioned were BJP leaders already aware of the attack as they were shooting videos from their mobile during the attack while sitting inside their vehicles. Was it again a planned move similar to one when they broke the statue of Iswar Chndra Vidyasagar to defame the state, said Banerjee.
Banerjee also emphasized on fact that the government has not received the request to provide security to Nadda. Pointing at the saffron party, she said you don’t inform the state, but when there is a problem, you blame the state.
