Even after the BJP suspended its spokesperson Nupur Sharma for her insulting remarks against Prophet Muhammad, the global outrage especially from the Gulf nations over the controversy has not stopped on Monday.
After Qatar, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bahrain, the Saudi Arabia have also reacted to the controversy and condemned remarks on Prophet Muhammed made by the rulling party spokesperson and its Delhi media in-charge.
Welcoming the BJP’s decision to suspend its party leaders Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal, Saudi Arabia also used some strong words against India in its tweet. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its condemnation and denunciation of the statements made by the spokeswoman of the India’s rulling party, insulting the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, the Ministry tweeted.

As per the foreign ministry, Saudi Arabia described BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s comments as insulting and called for respect for beliefs and religions.
The controversy erupted amid Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s tour of Qatar.
However, the two BJP leaders have been suspended by the party after Gulf nations warning to boycott Indian products. The BJP has suspended the two leaders calling them fringe elements. The decision was welcomed by Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
The BJP has also distanced itself from the comments made by the party leaders and said that the remarks were views of fringe elements and did not reflect the government’s opinion. The government also highlighted that the ruling BJP had taken action against the leaders.
Nupur Sharma, the suspended BJP spokesperson, made the remark on a TV news debate, while Naveen Jindal, who was media head of the party’s Delhi unit, had posted a tweet on the issue. Their comments angered the Indian Muslim, leading to several FIRs against Sharma and sporadic protests across the country. Later, the two BJP leaders have issued public apologies after the suspension.
India’s trade with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) stood at 87 billion Dollar in 2020-21. Millions of Indians live and work in Gulf countries and send millions of dollars in remittances back home. The region is also the top source for India’s energy imports.
