Those seeking Rahul Gandhi apology over UK remarks must answer PM Modi’s humiliating comments abroad: Mallikarjun Kharge
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said there is no question of an apology from Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in the UK and that those demanding so must answer Prime Minister Narendra Modi “humiliating” the people of the country with his comments abroad.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said there is no question of an apology from Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in the UK and that those demanding so must answer Prime Minister Narendra Modi “humiliating” the people of the country with his comments abroad.
Talking to reporters in national capital New Delhi, Kharge said he seeks answers from people demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi, about PM Modi “humiliating” the people of India who said that “being born in India is a sin.”
The Congress president claimed that democracy in the country was “diminishing”, freedom of expression and speech is being throttled and TV news outlets are being pressured while “people speaking the truth are being jailed” … “so if this is not the process of ending democracy then what is?”
Kharge added that there’s no question of an apology from the Congress scion over his comments made during a recent speech in London in which he alleged that the structures of Indian democracy are under “brutal attack” and there is a full-scale assault on the institutions of the country.

Gandhi also told British parliamentarians that microphones are often “turned off” in the Lok Sabha when any member of the opposition raises important issues.
The former Congress chief’s scathing comments have sparked outrage among the BJP cadres with members of the saffron party—including top Union Ministers—demanding an apology from Gandhi.
The first two days of the ongoing second leg of the Budget session was rocked by commotion in both Houses of the Parliament as BJP members push for an apology from Gandhi while the Opposition Congress protests the demand leading to adjournment of the House.
On Monday, Kharge, who is also the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge slammed the BJP for demanding an apology from Gandhi for his remarks. Addressing the media after the commotion in the Parliament, Kharge claimed that there’s no place for democracy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule and rule is law is absent while central agencies are being “misused.”
Kharge accused the ruling BJP of running the country “like a dictatorship” where dissent is muffled, while they trumpet about patriotism and respect… “and then they talk about democracy.”

Telangana: Former Chief Minister KCR hospitalised following a fall; suspected hip and back injury
According to local reports, the former chief minister will undergo some tests today. KCR is in stable health as of right now.

Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), fell at home and was taken to the hospital in Hyderabad this morning at around 2 a.m.
The 69-year-old may need surgery since doctors believe he may have injured his hip following the fall. At around two in the morning on Friday, he was taken to the Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad. Since losing the state assembly elections three days ago, the former chief minister has been hosting meetings at his house.
According to local reports, the former chief minister will undergo some tests today. KCR is in stable health as of right now.
BRS MLC K Kavitha posted on X with an update on KCR’s condition, stating that he is receiving professional medical care at the hospital right now.
Meanwhile, KCR held the position of Chief Minister of Telangana from 2014 till 2023, following his party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)’s loss by the Congress in the recently held Assembly Elections.
In the Telangana election, KCR stood for two seats; he won the Gajwel seat but lost to Kamareddy. He was beaten from the Kamareddy seat by Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy of the BJP, who also defeated KCR and Revanth Reddy.
Revanth Reddy, a member of the Congress, and eleven other ministers were sworn in as Telangana’s chief minister yesterday.
In the 119-member Telangana assembly, the Congress secured 64 seats, while the BRS managed to secure just 39. This was the first loss for BRS since Telangana was created in 2014.
During the lengthy poll campaign, the party attempted to draw attention to all of its programmes for the underprivileged. Nevertheless, the execution of certain programmes had granted MLAs an excessive degree of authority to determine how to allocate monies, giving rise to accusations of both corruption and prejudice.
Despite KCR’s warnings to these MLAs to get a grip and step up their game, all of them received election tickets. As a result, the Congress was awarded the majority of these seats.

Differently abled activist slams IndiGo for lack of travel assistance, tweet goes viral
Viral Modi, an activist as well as a motivational speaker faced a distressing situation on an Indigo flight from Delhi to Mumbai. Despite her paralyses from the waist down since 2006 and reliance on a wheelchair, she was left forgotten by the cabin crew after landing. The oversight led to her having to alert the housekeeping staff for assistance to deplane.

Many posts on the internet are witness to the fact that the country has to go a long way to make several public places, transport and other amenities accessible for people with disabilities. A 32-year-old disability rights activist’s recent is one such reminder of the lack of facilities.
This was followed by a 40 minute wait for an aisle wheelchair after all the passengers had left.
Virali’s said that the call button, which is used to ask for help was out of her reach and despite her prior notification about her need for a wheel chair at the gate, the airline failed to provide one. She added the helper who eventually came to assistant was negligent, pushing the aisle chair despite her stiff legs and failing to ensure her personal wheelchair was brought to the baggage claim area promptly. This resulted in an additional 30 minute delay for Virali while her fellow passengers departed.
The situation took a more personal turn when Virali discovered that the cushion for her wheelchair, which had been made custom made to support her spine and prevent sores during long hours of sitting was missing. This loss was particularly distressing as it occurred shortly after the international day of persons with disabilities on December 3. She highlighted the irony of her experience with the airline.
In response to her public sharing of the incident on X(formerly Twitter), Indigo took steps to rectify the situation. The assured Virali of providing a new customizable cushion tailored to Modi’s specifications and have promised to deliver to her home.
