UP BJP MLA: Rahul Gandhi’s got foreign mentality, dual character
The BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh, Surendra Singh took a jibe at former Congress president Rahul Gandhi calling him a person of dual character and foreign mentality on Monday.
Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA Surendra Singh on Monday said former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is a person of dual character and foreign mentality. The MLA said Rahul Gandhi was totally ignorant about Indian culture and if he wanted to understand nationalism, he needed to take tuition from nationalists, in an indirect reference to the BJP. The dual character of Gandhis became obvious during their journey to meet the victim’s family in Hathras, he said. While they were laughing during their journey, they shed tears at the home of the 19-year-old Dalit gang-rape victim, Singh said.
On Saturday, the BJP MLA made a controversial statement that rapes can only be stopped if parents teach values to their daughters and not by strict discipline alone. Reacting to the MLA’s comment which got widespread attention in the media and social media, Rahul Gandhi said this was the filthy RSS male chauvinist mentality at work. Men do the raping but women needed to be taught good values, Rahul tweeted. Following which on Monday, the BJP legislator from Bairia constituency in Ballia district, responded to Gandhi and said Gandhi was totally ignorant about Indian culture.
In a video released by ANI, the legislator emphasised on the need for parents and government to come together to make this country great. His remarks came in the backdrop of the gangrape and death of a woman in a Hathras village of Uttar Pradesh. The Gandhis visited the village and met the victim’s family on Saturday evening, following which the UP government handed over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The controversial remark of BJP MLA has drawn criticism from actors like Kriti Sanon, Swara Bhasker and Pooja Bedi who slammed him over his sanskari remark. Actor Swara Bhasker, calling him “an old sinner”, shared an old video of Singh’s comments on the Unnao rape and accused him of being a rape defender. Sanon pointed out that such mindsets needed to change. Meanwhile, Bedi tweeted that the BJP needed to cleanse itself of patriarchal lunatics like Surendra Singh.

A day before Gandhi Jayanti, PM Modi participated with fitness influencer Ankit Baiyanpuriya in participated in the Shramdaan for cleanliness campaign as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, PM modi shared a video of him doing the cleanliness work with the influnecer. Sharing the video he wrote, today, when the country focused on Swachhata, Ankit Baiyanpuriya and he did the same! Beyond only hygiene, they included wellness and fitness in the mix as well. It is all about that Swachh and Swasth Bharat vibe.
PM Modi can be heard asking Ankit in the video that how the Swachhata mission will benefit his physical health. Ankit responds, it’s up to us to maintain our environment clean. They’ll stay in shape if it stays clean.
