Arshdeep Singh has returned with an impressive spell of 2 for 18 in India’s thumping 50-run win over England at Southampton on Friday.

In his 4-over spell, Arshdeep has dismissed Reece Topley and Matt Parkinson to cap a commanding win for India.

With such an impressive figure in his T20I debut, the Punjab Kings pacer also broke a 16-year-old record and became the first Indian bowler to bowl a maiden over in their debut T20I over since 2006, when Jhulan Goswami and Ajit Agarkar did it in India’s first women’s T20I (vs England at Derby, August 2006) and first men’s T20I (vs South Africa at Johannesburg, December 2006).

Arshdeep Singh was part of Team India squad for the home series against South Africa last month and the subsequent away series against Ireland but did not get a chance to represent India. He received the T20I debut cap from skipper Rohit Sharma ahead of the first T20I against England in Southampton.

After his excellent first over Arshdeep Singh is getting praise from the fans and former cricketers.

Arshdeep has played 49 IPL matches and picked up 52 wickets at an economy rate of 8. He first appeared in the IPL in 2019, playing for PBKS, and was retained for the following season by the franchise prior to the auction.

Team India all-format captain Rohit Sharma has returned to the squad after recovering from Covid-19. India will play the second T20I against England in Birmingham on Saturday.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya was the hero of the match as he blasted his maiden Twenty20 international half-century and took four wickets as India beat England by 50 runs in Southampton on Thursday.

Khurram Manzoor takes U-turn on Virat Kohli’s ODI ranking statement, says his statement was misinterpreted

He wrote that it is strange that some media outlets and individuals have taken his interview out of context and twisted his words.

Khurram Manzoor takes U-turn on Virat Kohli's ODI ranking statement, says his statement was misinterpreted

Recently, while talking on Nadir Ali’s YouTube channel, Pakistani batsman Khurram Manzoor had made a shocking statement on Virat Kohli. But after much backlash, now the batsman has taken a U-turn from his statement and is saying that the media outlets have manipulated his statement.

Manzoor had said that he is the number one batsman in the list of top 10 batsmen in the world in the ODI format. And after him comes the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli. He also added that Kohli takes 6 innings to score a century or a half-century in the sixth innings. But after being trolled on social media, now the Pakistani batsman has reversed his statement and said that the things said by him were put in a wrong way.

Khurram Manzoor has played 16 Tests, 7 ODIs and 3 T20 matches for Pakistan. While clarifying his statement, the batter reiterated his point by sharing a post on social media. He wrote that it is strange that some media outlets and individuals have taken his interview out of context and twisted his words. Virat Kohli is a generational player and he has always admired him as the best. “I talked about this statistic about the best innings in List A cricket. In per hundred ratio where I am on top and Kohli is on second place. There is no comparison between me and him, he has played more matches and that too mostly at international level,” said Manzoor.

Keeping his point forward, the Pakistani batsman wrote, ‘He is the best regardless of this state. I would like to suggest all these media outlets to show some responsibility before publishing any article or news. Thank you!”

For the unversed, this 36-year-old Pakistani batsman has done amazing batting in domestic cricket but his selection has not been done continuously in the Pakistani team. In such a situation, the former cricketer said that the Pakistani board has ignored him, which is shocking for sure as he has also scored 24 hundreds in the last 48 innings. And is still the leading run scorer among all who have opened for Pakistan since 2015. “I have been the top scorer in National T20 and have also hit a century, yet I am neglected. I have 8-9 records, especially in List A cricket,” said Khurram Manzoor.
