Brett Lee praises pacer Umran Malik, says he reminds him of Waqar Younis
Praising India’s young sensation, former Australian pacer Brett Lee said Umran Malik reminds him of Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis

Former Australian pacer Brett Lee on Monday showered praise on Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Umran Malik, who had impressed everyone with his explosive pace and wicket-taking ability in the recently concluded 15th season of the Indian Premier League.
Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans won the IPL title in their debut season, defeating 2008 champion Rajasthan Royals by 7-wickets at Ahmadabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.
Praising India’s young sensation, Lee said Umran Malik reminds him of Pakistan pacer Waqar Younis. He has got a lot of paces to burn. He is a competitor, a top guy, who runs in like a lot of fast bowlers in the past, he said.
Brett Lee also said Waqar Younis is the person who comes to mind when he watches Umran Malik to bowl.
Performing his career-best in this season of IPL, Malik had bagged 22 wickets in 14 matches with an average of 20.18 and an economy of 9.03. However, the season was not good for his franchise SRH which had failed to secure their spot in IPL 2022 playoffs but it was the best season for the Jammu and Kashmir’s young pacer.
Due to his consistent performance in IPL 2022, Malik has received his maiden call-up for the upcoming T20 series against South Africa.
Keeping in mind the performance of Malik in IPL 2022, former India head coach Ravi Shastri had requested the BCCI to fast track the SRH pacer into Team India.
Malik has been hailed by many cricket pundits across the world because of the fact that he can bowl with a speed of over 150+ kph on a regular basis. It is an ability that not many bowlers have in the world. Many have predicted that the pacer will be in team India’s squad upcoming T20 World Cup which will be held in Australia in October.
Umran Malik, who recently clocked 157 kph which is possibly the fastest ball in the history of IPL, is also the fifth-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2022. He also won the fastest delivery of the match award 14 consecutive times in IPL 2022.
