Royal Challengers Bangalore’s hopes of winning a maiden IPL title came to an end on Friday at Gujarat’s Narendra Modi stadium, following their 7-wicket loss to Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2022.

After the heartbreaking loss, the RCB wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik took to his social media and wrote an emotional message for his fans. The RCB fanbase was the best he has ever been part of in the IPL, he said.

In his entire IPL career, Karthik has played for Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, RCB (before the 2022 season), Gujarat Lions and Kolkata Knight Riders.

In his Tweet, he talked about the journey of RCB in IPL 2022 and also expressed his gratitude to his fans. Didn’t get the result the franchise wanted tonight but proud of this team, the journey and the fearless brand of cricket the team has played, he wrote.

Thanks to each and every fan for their support and he will be back stronger next year, he also said in his tweet.

Dinesh Karthik’s return to form was the biggest positive of RCB’s campaign in IPL 2022.
Beating the fierce competition from Chennai Super Kings in IPL mega auction which was held in February, the RCB had brought him paying Rs 5.50 crore ahead of IPL 2022. The batter then replied with his bat playing some match-winning knocks that helped the team to qualify for the IPL 2022 playoffs. He was the fourth highest run scorer for RCB in the IPL 2022.

In 16 games, Karthik has scored 330 runs at an average of 55.00 and a strike rate of 183.33. An unbeaten 66 runs against the Delhi Capitals at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium was his highest score of the IPL 2022.

The batter had also played an instrumental role in taking RCB to Qualifier 2, playing an unbeaten knock of 37 off 23 balls but he couldn’t give the best of his abilities as he was dismissed after scoring just 6 runs in the qualifier 2 round.

T20 World Cup 2022

The All-India Senior Selection Committee from BCCI has named Mohammed Siraj as the replacement of Jasprit Bumrah on Friday for the remainder of the T20I series against South Africa.

The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) took to Twitter to give the official announcement. The board also gave an update on Bumrah’s health and said that Bumrah has sustained a back injury and is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team.

This has come to be a huge blow for India as their best pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who just made a come back after four months in the India vs Australia T20 Series, complained of niggle just before the first T20 match against South Africa and now the fast bowler has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 due to back stress fracture.

While an official confirmation from the Board of Control from Cricket in India is awaited, the signs have not been great as Bumrah pulled out of India’s series opener against South Africa and now Mohammed Siraj will replace the pacer for the ongoing T20 series against proteas.

For the unversed, Jasprit Bumrah had also missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to his back problem, and was training at the National Cricket Academy. However, he played the last two T20Is against Australia but has now against sustained a back injury.

This is a very huge loss for India has the return of Jassie had made the Indian bowling attack look a bit stronger as most if the bowlers like Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel are dealing with luckless innings and poor form. The only hope for India is Harshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar at the moment. And Mohammed Shami, who’s place in the squad can add in a lot of experience and enthusiasm in the Indian bowling attack is still under scanner.

The updated Indian India squad for South Africa T20Is:

Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, Deepak Chahar, Umesh Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Shahbaz Ahmed and Mohammed Siraj.
