India slams Islamic countries group’s remarks on Yasin Malik, says don’t justify terrorism
Two days after special Delhi court’s judgement on Yasin Malik, India slammed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for its remark against the court’s order sentencing life-time imprisonment to Kashmiri separatist leader in terror funding case.

Two days after a Delhi special court’s judgement, India slammed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for its remarks against the court’s order sentencing Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik to a life term in a terror funding case.
Do not justify terrorism in any manner as the world seeks zero-tolerance against the menace, India said. India described the comments by the OIC-IPHRC (Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission) as unacceptable and alleged the organization has implicitly expressed support Malik for his terrorist activities.
Arindam Bagchi, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, said Malik’s terrorist activities have been documented and presented in court. Responding to media queries on the OIC-IPHRC remarks on Delhi Court’s judgement on Yasin Malik, the MEA spokesperson said India finds the comments unacceptable.
Earlier on Wednesday, Malik had been awarded two life sentences and five counts of 10-year rigorous imprisonment terms by a Delhi special court. Apart from other additional fines, he has also been penalised Rs 10.75 lakh.
The judgment comes in the wake of the National Investigation Agency’s demand to award death penalty to the Kashmiri separatist leader who was convicted on May 19. The investigating agency said Yasin Malik was responsible for the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in 1994.
During Wednesday’s hearing in the NIA court, Malik told the court that he was not contesting the charges levelled against him. Malik said he has followed the principles of Mahatma Gandhi and has been doing non-violent politics in the Valley since 1994 when he gave up arms.
Rejecting the NIA’s plea for capital punishment, Special Judge Parveen Singh awarded him a life sentence for offences under the stringent anti-terror law Unlawful Activities Prevention Act 1967 and several sections of the Indian Penal Code.
