Defending champions West Indies knocked Bangladesh out of the tournament, as they beat Bangladesh by 3 runs to stay alive in the tournament. With the third consecutive loss, Bangladesh are now out of the semi-final race.

After being sent to bat first West Indies started very poor as they lost their top-3 wickets within 7 overs at 32 runs. Universe Boss Chris Gayle was promoted to his natural position as an opener, but once again he failed to score for the team and got out to Mahedi Hasan on the personal score of 4 runs. Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer also failed to make it big and got out on 6 & 9, respectively. At once Windies were 62-4 in 13 overs, when all-rounder Andre Russell got out in a bizarre way, the all-rounder was run-out by Taskin Ahmed, without facing a single ball. It was Nicholas Pooran and debutant Roston Chase, who came big and helped their team to reach a respected total of 142 runs in 20 overs.

Windies in their last 5 overs of the innings made more than 60 runs, including 21 runs in the last over. Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Mahedi Hasan took two wickets each for Bangladesh.

Chasing the target Bangladesh also didn’t start well and lost both their openers in the powerplay. Shakib Al Hasan who came to bat as an opener got dismissed at 9 runs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das and skipper Mahmudullah tried to win it for their country but the disciplined bowling of Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo in death overs was top class and West Indies won the match by 3 runs. Ravi Rampaul, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosain, Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell took one wicket each.

With this win Kieron Pollard-led West Indies stays alive in the tournament.

Delhi Police praises Mohammed Siraj’s excellent performance in Asia Cup Finals on social media

Indian pace bowler Mohammed Siraj’s exceptional bowling performance against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final not only recieved praise from fans all over the world but the Delhi Police social media team as well. They tweeted there would be no speed challans for Siraj today. This implied his fast paced bowling was not only permissible but highly appreciated as well.

Siraj performance with the ball was top notch as he dismantled the Sri Lankan batting lineup. He took six wickets in the match bringing the Indian team in a dominant position. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah supported Siraj by taking three wickets and one wicket respectively. The Indian bowlers bowled out the Sri Lankan team for 50 runs only. This set the stage for the victory of the Indian team in the Asia Cup.

The highlight of the match was Siraj’s outstanding performance with the ball. He took his first five wickets in just 16 balls. This is the fastest five wicket haul by a bowler in one day international history. He took the wickets of Dhananjaya De Silva, Charith Asalanka, Sadeera Samaraiwickrama and Pathum NIssanka and demolished the Sri Lankan batting lineup.

The match did not start on a smooth note rain caused weather delay in the match. The Sri Lankan Captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and chose to bat first against India. The match turned out to be memorable for Mohammed Siraj. He became the fourth bowler in ODI history to take four wickets in an over.

Anand Mahindra appreciated Mohammed Siraj in a post on X as the Indian cricketer decided to donate the player of the match cash prize to Colombo Ground staff. Anand Mahindra wrote on X he had just one word for Mohammed Siraj Class which comes from within. After he received the player of the match award, he decided to give away the cash to ground staff in Colombo.

India wins eighth Asia Cup title with 10 wicket win against Sri Lanka

India became Asia Cup Champions defeating Sri Lanka in the final of Asia Cup 2023. Mohammed Siraj destroyed the Sri lankan batting lineup in just first six overs of the match. He picked up a five wicket haul in the period. Jasprit Bumrah started his spell by picking up a wicket on his third ball.

Siraj destroyed the Sri Lankan batting lineup by taking four wickets in the fourth over itself. He came back and took the wicket of Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka. He completed his five wicket haul in just his second over only. The Sri Lankan batting was left reeling at 12/6 in 5.4 overs at that point. Siraj achieved record figures of 6/21.

Hardik Pandya took three important wickets finishing off the tailenders of the Sri Lankan batting line up. He took two back to back wickets in the first two balls of the sixteenth over. Sri Lanka was bowled out, their lowest ever score in One Day Internationals .The Indian batting started with Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill. The openers chased down the target in 6.1 overs itself. India thus won the final with 10 wickets and 263 balls remaining.

Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first. The match got delayed by 40 minutes due to rain. Sri Lanka missed their entire bowling attack. A mix of experienced part timers and young bowlers made scoring against Sri Lanka a difficult task. Kushal Mendes was the only player who performed with the bat.

KL Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah have made strong returns with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill also performing with the bat during the tournament. Sri Lanka lost their chances of beating India just few minutes after the match started. Both the Sri Lankan Team and the Indian team have been facing injuries as they reached the final.

Indian opener Shubman Gill smashed a century against Bangladesh in the final Super 4 match of the Asia Cup. After the match the Indian captain had a hilarious conversation with Shubman Gill. In the video Shubman can be seen interacting with Rohit Sharma at the team hotel. The conversation took place ahead of the Asia Cup Final between India and Sri Lanka. Reacting to Shubman’s question issued a hilarious response which has become viral on social media.

The Indian Captain was not impressed with Shubman’s remarks. To which he responded Nahi aise nahi hoga, pagal hai kya? Fans have started circulating memes on social media. India have won convincingly against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Nepal in the current Asia Cup tournament. The Indian Team defeated Pakistan to mark their biggest one day international (ODI) over Pakistan. The Indian Team then defeated Sri Lanka to reserve their place in  the Asia Cup Finals 2023. In their last Super 4 match against Bangladesh, the Virat Kohli less side had their first defeat in the Asia Cup 2023.

Shubman played brilliantly hitting 121 of 133 balls. But the innings went in vain as Bangladesh defeated India by 6 runs on Friday. Rohit said Gill’s 100 was brilliant. Gill knows exactly how he wants to play. Sharma said Shubman is pretty clear about what he wants to do for the team. The Indian skipper said Gill’s form against the new ball was pretty solid. He said Gill is a hard worker.
