On Saturday, the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings announced that former skipper MS Dhoni will return as their captain as Ravindra Jadeja has stepped down from captaincy to focus on his game. Ravindra Jadeja was announced as the new CSK captain just two days before the start of IPL 2022.

However, Chennai Super Kings had to endure a difficult start to the campaign, as they just manage to win two of their first eight matches. The franchise came up with the official statement on Saturday claiming, “Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK.” However, what came as a relief for CSK fans was that the former captain, MS Dhoni had accepted to lead Chennai Super Kings in the larger interest of the franchise and also to allow Ravindra Jadeja to focus on his game.”

As soon as the news was out, CSK fans thanked MS Dhoni for returning as the skipper and they also congratulated Ravindra Jadeja for showing sportsman spirit. Ever since, tweeple are sharing memes and wishes for the team. While some said that no one can fill in the shoes of MS Dhoni, while other shared hilarious memes to show support to the skipper. Some of the reactions are given below:

Ravindra Jadeja has not been at his best with bat or ball and surprisingly neither with fielding, this season. Hence, several experts believed that captaincy was taking a toll on the newly appointed captain. So far, Ravindra Jadeja has scored 112 runs at a strike-rate of 121.74, at an average of 22.40 in eight matches. And with the ball, he had manged to take just five wickets at an economy of 8.19 RPO in eight matches.

Dhoni had led CSK in every season the franchise since the start of IPL in 2008.  MS captained them to four titles, with the latest one coming last year, IPL 2021.
