IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals’ Kuldeep Yadav advised rest as precautionary measure for groin injury

Kuldeep Yadav is likely to miss DC’s next match on Sunday against the Mumbai Indians (MI) due to his injury, however there has been no officials reports about it.

In the onging season of IPL, Delhi Capitals team management has recommended rest for Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav due to a groin injury. After DC’s team lost their second match of the season against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur, the 29-year-old left-arm spinner developed a niggle.

The star cricketer was unable to participate in the subsequent two matches in which veteran pacer Ishant Sharma, was  called to join the playing XI.

When asked about Kuldeep’s status, a source said it will take some time for him to be match fit.

The sports science and medical staff at National Cricket Academy will have a significant influence over Kuldeep’s injury and rehabilitation care because he is a centrally-contracted player and a potential T20 World Cup player.

Franchises are required to notify the NCA of any complaints or concerns they may have about an injured India player. Despite traveling with the team for every match, he is unlikely to play in DC’s next match on Sunday against the Mumbai Indians (MI).

In two matches, Kuldeep has claimed three wickets at an economy rate of 7.62.

After a brilliant performance in the five-Test series against England that finished last month, where he took 19 wickets at an average of 20.15 in four matches, he has been going on a wicket-taking rampage.

DC is now at ninth place in the IPL’s point table as they have won only match out of the four matches they have played. They need to put together a few victories sooner to compete for finals. Meanwhile, Delhi Capital’s captain Rishabh Pant has showed glimpses of his best form after the major injury which he went through in 2022.

However, Rishabh Pant and his entire DC team was also slapped with a heavy fine by BCCI for maintaining slow over rate two time in a row, which is also a breach of IPL’s Code of Conduct.
